Yes, to me, the bag packs well as a travel or overnite case. It wouldn’t work nearly as well for school as the contents would shift around. It looks to be perfect for my intended use—toiletries, Rx, jacket, hoodie and stuff for plane.
Has anyone seen the backpack selection in person? I’m wondering about the colors. The first one looks purple on my screen but it says it’s blue and the last one looks teal but it says it’s green. And, in the comments, someone referenced the red/burgundy one that looks like true red on my screen. I’d like to buy one but would be interested in knowing what shades they come in; otherwise, black always works. Thanks, @HImom, for posting it–looks like a great backpack at a really low price.
I have the grey one—it was the last and only one Sam’s Club has in stock. It’s a very nice shade of grey. I bought another grey and the blue — they are in transit to our house. I wasn’t sure about the other colors and like darker, more subdued colors for travel anyway so it doesn’t scream “tourist!”
I figure out between me, S and D, we can have 2 grey bags and one blue. Blue would go with most anything. D has a blue suitcase so maybe I will give her the blue backpack, tho the suitcase is a royal or electric blue and in the photo, the backpack looks like more like traditional blue jeans blue.

Thanks for the SwissGear Weekender feedback. I just ordered one in grey. Between kids who fly back and forth college/home and DH who travels for work, I figure someone will use it. DS has said that his backpack is too big for him so I hope he will like this.
The blue SwissGear weekender backpack (as well as the grey one) arrived in the mail. They are nice subdued colors that should be perfect for travel.
I do like the brighter colors but not so much for travel.
I love the backpack and want to order it. Do you have to have a membership to order from the Sam’s site? I’m prompted to join now or checkout as a guest, but it doesn’t actually let me checkout as a guest.

If you aren’t a member, try to find a friend who is a member or you will be hit with a $45 membership fee. Probably you have friends and family members who are members.
Thanks for the answer. Not sure why it suggests you can checkout as a guest if you can’t. It even says 10% non-member fee may apply on the item page. Very misleading and annoying.
Maybe you can—try calling the tollfree number and see if they can walk you through it. I tried checking out as a guest and it kept saying I had an expired membership and wanted to charge me for a $45 renewal. I called and the Sam’s guy helped me enter my non-expired member number so I could purchase.

@Onward and @takeitallin - Perhaps I did miss a step. After placing the backpack in my cart I went to check out. There was an option to join now or check out as a guest, each in blue print as a link normally appears. When hovering over the the guest option, it was not an active link. I could not click on it, but could click on join now.
I have not had a chance to call their toll free number for help as someone suggested (gift for husband; husband around). I’ve been out of town all day. I was in another town with a B&M store and stopped in to see if I could purchase in person. The attendant at the door said I could not purchase anything there without a membership. I left.
I’ll try again online when I get home tonight. Any pointers welcome. Might resort to calling the toll free number if I can get my husband out of the room long enough…
