CEOs to pick their favorite color and what they select will often be very different than what most people would pick.
For example, when 877 members of USA TODAY’s CEO panel took an online personality color test, they were three times more likely to favor magenta than the public at large, three times less likely to select red, and 3½ times less likely to choose yellow.</p>

<p>This, it turns out, is more than a curiosity. Psychiatry professor Rense Lange, an expert on tests for everyone from students to job hunters to those with early signs of Alzheimer’s disease, has been looking hard at color tests and he has reached the conclusion that the results all but prove that CEOs are wired differently.</p>

<p>They are often wired in counterintuitive ways. For example, the color test shows that the typical CEO is more sensitive and private than the typical person and is less likely to be a perfectionist or to be dominant and more likely to be emotionally unstable. CEOs, it turns out, are not as self-assured as the public at large, and they are more cooperative and less forceful than the typical person, says Dewey Sadka, who has spent the last 15 years refining the color test completed by the 877 current and retired CEOs and chairmen. The heavy response from USA TODAY’s CEO panel provided a significant database that was then examined against 750,000 others who have taken the online test</p>

<p>ooooh! That’s my favorite color! D and I even ran across a college that had magenta and black for it’s school colors. I couldn’t get past the mascot, though, especially when they featured it on magenta sweatshirts with rhinestone teeth.</p>

Muskingum College is a selective, private four-year liberal arts college located in New Concord, Ohio, approximately sixty miles east of the state capital of Columbus. Founded in 1837, Muskingum College is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), although since the 1960s the school’s religious nature has significantly diminished. School colors are black and magenta and the school’s mascot is the “Fighting Muskie” (the muskellunge, the largest member of the pike family).

<p>I didn’t think most people even knew what magenta was.</p>

<p>Every school D has attended (elementary, middle school, high school, college) has had purple as one of their school colors. Am trying to find out if that has any secret meaning.</p>

<p>There was a girl in D’s elementary school who was crazy for magenta from Day 1. She’d collect all the magenta markers and figure out a way to use them legitimately. She was a Presidential Scholar and is attending Stanford. Who’d have thunk?</p>

<p>I’ve always liked the shade and found it interesting that my college and the ones my first two went to (at least to start college) included that deep red shade but all called it by a different name.</p>

<p>Totally off subject, when we were kids my sister had a much larger vocabulary than she had ever read, and told us younger kids the names of the more exotic crayons in the box. Deep red/brown was “Magneta”. Made sense to me, kind of an earthy, iron-rich red tone. Pretty blue-green crayon spelled Aquamarine was dubbed “Aquarium”. Again, just the right color for that word.</p>
