Your Method Of Reading A CC Thread

To the people who don’t immediately post something when they reach page 8 of a 17-page thread and feel that they really need to post something: You are better CC participants and more patient than I–seriously–but I doubt that I am going to change this! (Also seriously)

I generally don’t get to CC until late in the day and sometimes not every day. So, sometimes, by the time I log on, a thread of interest is pages long. I try to start at the beginning and read every post but it just depends on (1) the length and (2) if the topic really is of interest and remains of interest if it strayed. Like others, I often find my viewpoint has been covered so I end up not posting.

I like threads that go on for pages. That’s where all the interesting conversations are.

^ @Wellspring But so rarely are anything like “open” discussions allowed here. There is always the imperative to stay “on topic”. This particular thread is an exception, because it is “meta-level” about CC itself. Then again, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a mod came in to chide us about straying too far from whatever was the OP premise. CC I think is somewhat of an accidental social media site. Regular conversation seems to be merely tolerated.

I read all of the comments first. I don’t really consider myself a frequent poster I mostly just read.

If I consider the thread important, I make sure to read all the comments before posting. Otherwise, I read the beginning of the thread and the last page where the discussion left off.
