Your Most Hated Movies

SORRY can’t resist posting Whit Stillman’s classic Lady and the Tramp discourse.

Though the name of Whit Stillman should never be posted in a “movies you hate” thread

I couldn’t stand either “Braveheart” or “Forrest Gump,” both movies that lots of people seem to like, including the Motion Picture Academy. I also don’t like any of Tarantino’s movies and I hated “Birdman.” I still don’t understand how it won Best Picture last year. On the other hand, I really liked “Inception,” which several people on this thread have mentioned not liking. Oh, and I just remembered this terrible sci-fi movie that was the first movie my then-boyfriend, now-husband went and saw together called “Lifeforce.” We still make jokes about that movie because it was so bad.

Oh, I just remembered my number 1, all-time most hated movie: El Topo. Anyone else see that one? [Shudder].

I hated Les Miserables. Longest, most boring thing ever. Twilight was absolute dreck. Kristen Stewart can’t act to save he life. Neither can Julia Roberts, so I really don’t care for any of her films either. And I seriously must be the only living American who hated The Wizard of Oz. Scared the bejeebers out of me as a kid.

I forgot how awful Les Miserables was! I would absolutely have walked out on that if I hadn’t been with a large group of relatives who hated it less than I.

On the other hand, the proposition “Kristen Stewart can’t act to save her life” is, I think, demonstrably wrong. She got well-deserved praise (and a Best Supporting Actress Cesar) for Clouds of Sils Maria, and I thought she was pretty good in Adventureland and Into The Wild. I suspect Stewart was not the problem with the Twilight movies.

I really liked Adventureland. A good sleeper of a movie.

@Bestfriendsgirl, I also loath the Wizard of Oz.

Maybe not most hated ever, but most recently hated: Hail Caesar!

Such a disappointment from the Coen brothers.

I’ve hated most remakes of TV shows I liked as a kid: The Avengers, The Man from Uncle, Get Smart…waste of money and talent.

@Bestfriendsgirl I had the same reaction to The Wizard of Oz as a child and still don’t watch it. I even had someone else take my daughter to see The Wiz!

She was also good in Still Alice.
