Was it a coincidence that warriorboy648’s son was matched with keylyme’s son? My son happened to be matched with a CC person’s child and that was a total coincidence. We only figured out the connection after the fact. It was a great match and S liked the classes he got to attend.

More Choate: I’m also a Choate parent and have to take issue with the statement that any friendliness is somehow fake or manufactured. Although like any teenager, my kid has good days and bad days, in general he has been pretty happy at Choate and found the kids to be pretty friendly. In fact, having toured school, attended revisit day, attended parents weekend and visited him a couple of times at school, I’ve always come away with the sense that it is a very friendly campus and there is a genuine sense of community among the students.

As for classes - I got to attend a bunch of classes during parent’s weekend and was very impressed. The English class I went to was outstanding and I was extremely impressed with how the teacher seemed to really know each kid, was able to get each of them to feel that they had something positive to contribute and kept the enthusiasm level very high. In Latin and Math it was the kids who blew me away. Both were being taught at a very high level and the kids were just so quick. (Of course these were honors courses, so that might explain it in part). Physics they did a lab and the equipment was just amazing.

I’m sure the teachers are trying to put on a little bit of a show for the parents and having one’s parents in the room changes the dynamics a little, but I can report that my teenager seems to like most of his teachers, enjoy his classes and finds the work challenging but interesting.

Wow that’s so cool how warriorboy was matched with keylyme’s son! ![]()
Such a coinkidink.
:D

It was a coincidence. The soccer coach paired them up because he thought they were a good match. It went so well that my son stayed with him again when he did an overnight.

The strange and wonderful world of CC Prep School Admissions forum. :)

lol nice thread bumping this

eXeter is awesome, Andover Unbelievable!:D:D:D:D:D

St. Andrew’s made you feel like you were already part of the SAS family. You meet with a teacher who answers any questions you have and is extremely kind. I loved my day at St. Andrew’s

Contrary to what others have said, NMH revisit day didnt do it for me. But, that is just my opinion. On the other hand, Exeter’s was absolutely incredible. I loved how we were able to shadow the student the entire day, it really helped you feel like a current student. The staff was very nice, and the dean of admissions took the time to come and talk with me and my parents, and even discuss my application! Over all, it was an amazing experience and was the deal breaker.

Just got back from st. george. great revisit, friendly folks, beautiful seaside setting in newport by the beach and…incredibly hot girls!!! …but the college matriculation rate just doesnt compare to my final choices. great place if your not aiming for the ivies.

Andover had the best revisit program of all the schools i visited. Exeter was great. Andover’s was much longer with all the different sessions, ice cream party, athletic presentation, and questionnaire. Exeter just had you tour with your host. You discover the great Harkness table, which is quiet daunting actually. I noticed, the smaller schools like St. George’s or Middlesex had students sing or perform for us, where as larger schools didn’t.

Andover: On April 4th, the adults got to hear the male a capella singing group, and they were excellent. Ice cream party, questionnaire? Not sure if they had this for our day, or my niece may have been so happy by all of it that she forgot to tell us some parts. The adults got a presentation on athletics and other extracurriculars.

They were on separate days. The Athletic presentation was at 6:30 yesterday. Bill Belichick was there -Go Pats!- along with two standouts who graduated from Andover. It was interesting, many comments and questions to Belichick about his grey sweatshirt- really interesting. Interestingly enough, one of the Andover standout athletes who was there plays for the NY Giants. They had a nice hug and stuff. Anyways, they had an Ice cream social the day before my revisit day. Anyways, the questionnaire was at the end of the revisit day where like 5 or 6 students answered questions (obviously) from the audience.

dirty pool using belichik to sell andover. i wonder what his daughter had to say about that since she is on the admissions committe at choate. and his son goes to school at rivers. so much for family loyalty!

I thought it was spelled Belicheat.

Very funny fif. Belichiks an awesome coach but the best ever was Mr. Mike Ditka.

Okay, let’s not get after a school because of who did or didn’t go there. But, I did like fun is fun’s little zinger.

And, go Giants! Anybody care to talk about 18-1? ;)

Apparently, the athletic presentation was not at all of Andover’s visit days, but we did also have a student panel that answered questions.

What day did you and your niece go brooklynguy?

I went Monday.

We were at Andover on Friday, April 4th.

Great revisit day at Andover! The Belichick talk was interesting (not dirty pool) - apparently he has given this talk for a number of years, and the focus was on his experience as a PG athlete at Andover and also on how he built on his HS athletics experience to play DIII sports at Wesleyan. Actually, there was not a lot on his experience as a pro-football coach. Of the other two speakers, one (the Giants linebacker) played three sports at Andover and then went on to Brown before heading to the Giants. The other speaker also played three sports at Andover, started as an ungrad at Harvard, and transferred to Amherst so she could continue to play multiple (three) sports. She was an All-American DIII athlete at Amherst.

Now, if there was only a way to avoid making the final decision about which school to attend! But April 10 is only hours away…
