Instead of asking about a specific program, I just want to see if kids here really enjoyed their experiences at very expensive/very prestigious summer programs.

So basically, what’d you attend…and how’d you like it?

Penn summer science academy: biomedical research…

Had the time of my life. The program was good, but the overall experience was unforgettable.

son has attended several programs:

Boys State/Colorado – ok program, but felt that it was a little too cliqueish/conservative for him. Also felt that many of the kids were competitive but not too deep thinking. My understanding is that this programs varies widely from state to state.

Oxbridge/The Cambridge Tradition – loved the program! Thought the kids were interesting and fun, the professors were great and absolutely loved his major class (Religion and Ethics)

HOBY – absolutely fantastic, says it was life-changing and highly recommends it

AFS cultural exchange to Egypt – loved it! intrigued by Egypt, learned some Arabic. AFS was fantastic, organized and the kids he went with were great.

American Hiking Society Volunteer Vacation – he spent 7 days above treeline hauling boulders – then had to camp-out and do camp chores. It was hard, hard work but he enjoyed the opportunity to give back to the community. He was the youngest attending – and the mix of people, including professionals, doctors, lawyers, photographers that were in his small group of 12 were inspiring.
