You're going to Cornell, but who did you turn down?

DaFunk - you might be the first person to do such a thing.

DaFunk speaks a lot of truth, especially about Penn. You really need to look beyond the rankings game.

As for Princeton… well it certainly has some less than spectacular aspects to it that would make me think twice as well. But the Princeton alumni are drinking some sort of happy juice by the time they graduate. That would be a tough call.

Yale and Duke

Dartmouth and Amherst waitlist.

nope. Christoper Reeves turned down Columbia, Princeton, and some others for Cornell.

columbia seas, cooper union, georgiatech, duke pratt, was a very hard choice

Berkeley & UCSD - engineering.

raj - may I ask why you did that?

hofstra (not a hard decision)

muerteapablo - are you a rankings whore?

You seem shocked anytime anyone turns down one of the sacred cows for Cornell. I, personally, would have hated going to Harvard undergrad and found Cornell to provide an incredible undergrad experience.

muerteapablo is that poster who said that Cornell kids are dumb and he wants to transfer out because of that.

oh, right.

There’s a wake up call waiting for him at whatever other school he goes too. I’ve worked with enough people from HYPSM etc… to know there’s no difference.

Some people just think all there is to college is a ranking - Cornell has everything the other Ivy’s don’t…

lol! first you got bball and now you got muerteapablo. what’s going on? :D

That is, if he ends up getting in at HYSM and other ivies as a transfer.

haha. idk why Cornell has to end up enrolling people like this all the time.

Muerteapablo strikes me as exactly the type of person who is wasting their time at Cornell, worried more about why other students are choosing Cornell over other institutions than his own studies and activities. You only are in college once, folks, make the best of it.

not just time. 50k a year is a lot of cash to be wasting. I mean, if you aren’t going to enjoy Cornell, why come here paying so much money? This dude coulda gone to state schools, save money, and shoot for transfer.

To be fair, Cornell shares bball with Northwestern since he transferred to Penn after 1 year at Cornell and 1 year at Northwestern. Prestige whores will never be happy.

in all fairness to muertepueblo, cornell does have its share of dumb people. in all not fairness to muertepueblo, all schools have dumb people.

I mean, the undergraduate experience in terms of connections, departments, faculty, students, and location are all better at Yale/Columbia/Penn for what I plan to study (neurobio and philosophy).
