You're going to Cornell, but who did you turn down?

I’ve seen threads like this on for other colleges, but I didn’t see one for Cornell…

Who did you turn down?

Duke and UVa

Northwestern

Vanderbilt

Hopkins, LA, Cal, SC

UChicago -10 char-

ix3demosthenes - ive seen a lot of people in the chicago vs cornell bind. it seems to be splitting about 50/50. whats your intended major?

the prospect of engineering was ultimately too enticing, ergo cornell; however, i i figure out im not cut out for applied sci, then i’ll def look to apply to UC for grad school

University of Navarra (Spain)

Princeton, Penn, Michigan and Wisconsin

What were your reasons DaFunk?

Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, BC

Cause Cornell is better? lol

JHU. UT Austin, blah.

WashU, UIUC, and UChicago (if I get in that is…still haven’t heard back)

Michigan and Wisconsin were too big, and somewhat academically inferior (although they are still great schools).
When I visited Penn I found it far too preprofessional. There is a huge focus on Wharton that turned me off. The social scene wasn’t too great either… or at least what I experienced of it in one night (boring toolish people at lame house-parties in a sketchy city).
At first I was set on Princeton, but then I had a terrible visit and started to think about things: massive grade deflation, having to write a senior thesis, having to deal with the bicker process at an eating club, potentially having to apply to Woody Woo, etc. At some point I just realized that I would have a better chance of enjoying my college experience, standing out academically and going to a top grad school or ibank if I went to Cornell.

Carnegie Mellon, UVA, …

Georgetown SFS, Northwestern and UChicago

Duke, Rochester, Cal, UCLA
