<p>“Alexandra Wallace, the southern California undergraduate who apologized for her recent YouTube rant about the ‘hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every single year,’ said Friday that she will no longer be attending classes at UCLA. In a statement to the college newspaper, The Daily Bruin, Wallace said, ‘the harassment of my family, the publishing of my personal information, death threats and being ostracized from an entire community’ has caused her to leave the university…”</p>
<p>I don’t know. I still think it was stupid to post it, but I think the fact that this is messing up her entire life is a disproportionately large punishment. She was probably thinking that everyone would react like her friends would react. I know that if I posted a video like that, my (mostly asian) friends would all laugh at it but I suppose that the difference is that I at least realize that the rest of the internet doesn’t know me like they do.</p>
<p>I actually really really feel bad for her. Hopefully no one will recognize her at her new school so she can put the past behind her. Do you think she’ll have to go by a different name?</p>
<p>I honestly am dissapointed in the Chancellor’s handling of this. It amazes me that he’s so “apalled” by the video but he finds no reason to be upset at or address the fact that a student has been essentially driven from our school by threats of violence.</p>
<p>The reason i am not sympathetic to her case is mainly because she went way too far when she included the part about the Tsunami in Japan, she could be living next to people who lost family members and yet she callously put that out there. Joke or not, that took it too far.</p>
<p>honestly, if she didn’t include the part about tsunamis AND it wasn’t so close the current crisis it would have been fine…still, just really hard lesson to think before you talk.</p>
<p>publicity stunt… she is a “model” for a modeling agency in LA, of course she needs publicity… (seems like an agency that hooks “model” with porn video companies.)</p>
<p>It was just a dumb ***** saying dumb ***** stuff on the Internet. It really isn’t anything new, there are plenty of stupid people saying stupid **** online and they don’t get screwed over.</p>
<p>The problem was her video went viral and then got posted on 4chan, hence the death threats.</p>
<p>Yeah people keep blaming students for the death threats but it did get viral to the rest of the internet, where people make threats left and right. Though I was a little annoyed at how uptight people got. If the tsunami part wasn’t there it would be alright but a lot of people focused on the chingchong part - probably one of the most beat-to-death stereotypes out there.</p>

I really don’t think she should be forced out of UCLA, these death threats are too much.
That being said, wow. How stupid of her to post that video.
I don’t think she is racist. I think she is just IGNORANT.</p>
<p>Us Asians cherish our families. And those Asians who speak in the library are most likely FOB’s who don’t know etiquette. Those people phoning Japan have genuine concern so that was just unnecessary of her.</p>
