YRL books for class

This quarter I managed to save a bunch of money on my textbooks by using the honors privileges at YRL to check out books assigned for the class. I want to do the same thing with a few books next quarter, but I have a feeling if I check them out now, they’ll just be recalled and put on the course reserves. I could wait until next quarter to do this, but I have a feeling that they’ll be on reserve, and I’ll be forced to by super expensive new editions from the UCLA store, so I want to find out ASAP so I can buy them on amazon. Anyone have any experience doing this sort of thing?

um… lemme try to decipher this.
you want to know what your books are?
go to the textbook website (they should be posted already). then look at the source code for the page and you can see the ISBNs of the books so you can get good deals off amazon ;)

wait, so how do you find the source code?

Goddammit!!! Use the search function!

Anyway, look here and here.

Someone should “sticky” this info, but even then people will still ask. -_-#

No, I already no how to do that, which is how I found my books at YRL, i just want to know if they usually put these books on reserve for bigger classes like Poli Sci.

^ I was replying to DeantheMachn. I should have quoted, but i figured it would be obvious.

Anyway, abraxas, I can’t tell you anything helpful since I rarely, if ever, look for books at YRL. Sorry.

the only problem with “renting” is that you can’t highlight/write in the books…which SUCKS!

I have a few books for my tiny honors collegium class from YRL now…and, bruinboy, you can absolutely write in them. And I really hate people who deface public property. I found notes in the margin that I know are specifically for the class I’m taking, and in one of the books EVERY SINGLE THING is underlined! If everything is underlined, then nothing is important! Not to mention that its annoying as hell to read, though its free so I should stop whining. I’m hoping that books for bigger classes like PS 10 don’t go on reserve…
