@HorseRun The 32 participants are split into groups of 4. Each group of 4 writes a full research paper mentored by the program director and TAs. Although it certainly had its flaws, I was really proud to have written that paper, and the guidance and attention we got over the four weeks of the program was fantastic.
thank you for the info.
@phyphi8551 I was wondering if you knew how many girls applied to the program and if the ratio is the same?
@phyphi8551 Thanks for the great info! Very helpful. So, it sounds like no one really cared when you got the work done as long as you submitted problem set 1 by the deadline, and then problem set 2 by the deadline? I am the mom of an applicant and unfortunately he may not have time/computer access for every single day of those 2 weeks due to some conflicts, but it sounds like there is flexibility. I realize things can change, but based on your experience, that is accurate?
Congratulations on UChicago–that is very exciting! And it is so nice to hear such positive things about YSPA. Not surprising, but great to hear! Along with everyone else here, keeping fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone.
@rileygrl That’s right, as long as you finish your problem sets on time, nobody cares when you are doing the actual work. You do have to attend 3 online ‘meetings’ a week (an hour each), but those happen almost every day so if he has internet for 3 days in the week, he should be fine. Thanks for the kind words and good luck to your son!
@cs272001 I don’t know the number of girls and guys that actually applied, but the ratio at the camp was exactly even - 16 girls and 16 boys. Each research group of 4 is also split evenly, with 2 boys and 2 girls in each.
It’s tommorow guys ?. I’m impatient
Wish you good luck ???
I hope atlist one of us shall be taken so we can actually learn from him or her ???
@phyphi8551 Thanks for the great info.
i’m getting used to being rejected lol
Reading last year’s posts, I think the acceptances come out the night before the date.
I am so nervous as well! YSPA is such an AMAZING opportunity for high school students. I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself just from completing the application.
What other programs have/are you all applying to? I applied to COSMOS and WTP, but YSPA is 100% my dream summer program (except for the expensive price tag :/).
i just got the decision email lol…accepted
@duoduo0619 wow…congrats!!! I guess I got rejected then…
Yeah… anyone who hasn’t got an email is most likely waitlisted or rejected.
Did anybody else get a decision email?
I don’t think they send all the decision emails at once so don’t give up.
@duoduo0619 thanks… I really want to get into this program.
We can still hope for the waitlist.
