So, this board was hopping about a week or so ago, but lately nearly every post and thread has taken on either an argumentative or desperate chance sort of tone. Which is no fun! So I came up with another game to hopefully distract us.I’m sure all of us SCEAers know that there are only 10 days left until THE day. Might as well make it fun, right?

Let’s test our knowledge of all things Yale, and remind ourselves why we made the oh-so-tortous decision to apply.

RULES OF ZE GAME.

Everyday there is a category. Nice and general, like Res. Colleges, Intermurals (is it Intra?), EC’s, Master’s Teas, anything people can easily comment on, i.e not Skull and Bones or something The first person to post on this thread on each day can come up with the category.

Depending on how many days are left, posters should leave an equivalent number of thoughts/vignettes/haikus/rants/anything on the category listed. So, on the 14th, there will be 1 DAY LEFT, so you’d leave 1 thought about the category. Bonus points if anyone can figure how to post zero on the 15th You can only post one of these per day, so make it intriguing!

We award each other points for creativity, nice writing style, being nice, cool smileys, awesome categories, whatever. No points to yourself :)

NOTHING WHATSOEVER ABOUT ADMISSIONS! PERIOD!

Points will be tallied after 11:59 PM on 12/14/08. Top 3 will get an honorary bronze, silver, and gold medal in honor of being the coolest Yale SCEA 2013 poster ever on 12/15/08. So regardless of whether you get in/deferred/rejected, you may still be a winner!

1) I love how the Men of JE are the trouble-makers during midterms and finals when JE himself was an ascetic men who wanted to send sinners straight to the hands of an angry God. ;)

2) My regional advisor loves silliman.

3) I wonder if you actually bleed blue if you cut yourself at Yale. That’s a really interesting idea. In fact, how many people cut themselves at Yale? Does it change by Residential college? Will Obama fight his wife in true Harvard-Yale fashion? Will Yalies finally choose Wall-e as a mascot?

Tune in later to find out!!:D:D:D

Yale (Not about Residential Colleges, shoot):
I probably shouldn’t say this
But at times I get so scared
When I think about the previous
Relationship we’ve shared

It was awesome but we lost it
It’s not possible for me not to care
Now we’re standing in the rain
But nothin’s ever gonna change until you hear, my dear

Chorus
The 7 things I hate about you
The 7 things I hate about you
You’re vain, your games, you’re insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don’t know which side to buy
Your friends they’re jerks cough Harvard
And when you act like them, just know it hurts
I wanna be with the one I know
And 7th thing I hate the most that you do
You make me love you

Yale: Admission Decisions
It’s awkward and it’s silent
As I wait for you to say
What I need to hear now
Your sincere apology
And when you mean it, I’ll believe it
If you text it, I’ll delete it
Let’s be clear

Berkeley College has the Best Food, yay!

If I had to pick one, Berkeley college easy. “The Pen may be mightier than the Sword, but the Stomach can digest both so who wins? O.o??”

They once had a director for a porn movie at a Master’s Tea

Most of the Residential colleges are gothic architecture

They’re building 2 new ones in 2013. yay! Maybe one will get named after one of us, eh? :D:D:D

4 of the 14 colleges are named after graduates from my high school. No joke. That’s terrifying.

Saybrook kids strip. During football. That’s hilarious.

Stiles and Morse are kind of ugly. But all the more beautiful for it.

The colleges have Butt(erie)s. Seriously, they call them the Butt. Yalies are hilarious. That’s like when I spent all of English class a month ago laughing when the class was debating “moral duty”. Moral doodie. hahahahahahaha

ASHE sounds like something from Braveheart.

Silliman’s got the Safety Dance, which honestly sounds like the hottest night on the block. More 80s, please.

Berkeley has an underground tunnel conjoining its buildings. That is so stealth and legit it’s not even funny. I would/will be using it to leave one side of Cross Campus and come back from the other behind some kid just to psyche him out.

Trumbull has a courtyard called Potty Court. Tee hee.

I went to a Bat Mitzvah in Saybrook’s underground, and as a 13 year old it was TERRIFYING. But awesome.

JE SUX!! JE SUX!!!

My dad was in Trumbull and I think that I’m gonna choose to be in Trumbull as well should I be accepted

They’re amazing

I love zem

They’re silly

PRINCESSBELL loves them too

Residential + Colleges = best of both worlds

ooooh anderson cooper was in trumbull too! and i respect him!

I love how close trumbull is to au bon pain/the library

I want you all to be in my college

I’ma go to sleep (next year I can do so in a residential college!!!.. hopefully :()

new topic for 8 days left: Extracurricular Activities!!! What ECs do you think you want to get involved in if you go to yale!!!

Here are mine:
The Dramat
Student Produced Drama Productions
Yale in Hollywood (internship program… salivates)
Some sort of New Haven outreach/tutoring/mentoring program
Chamber Music (hopefully starting a trio!? - anyone else interested? I can play pianoooooooo but I need a cello/violin!)
Thinking about possibly joining a random club that someone just started - ya know, to expand my horizons
ooooh SECRET SOCIETIES!!! Ok not really an EC, but they are sooo kewl. My dad was in one and he said it was great fun!
uhhh I actually want to REALLY focus on my activities: something I couldn’t really do in high school as much as I would have liked because of time constraints… and Yale would be the best place for thiss!!!

intramural volleyball

tutoring in the have

Yale College Republicans

Volunteer/Community Outreach

Summer at LSE (if study abroad counts) [if not than i would love to learn how to play the violin]

I do all that i can to be at every football game

Economic Research

The Arvo Parte Society (if there is not one, i will start one!)

ps- the idea for this thread was amazingly superfab :)

Habitat for Humanity…actually, looks like Yale doesn’t have a club, i guess I’ll have to start one!

Walk on to the cross country team ??? (or try to, at least. haha.)

If not, run with a club.

Continue learning guitar and play with friends

any kind of intramural to help my college WIN! well, assuming i have some sort of competence in the sport. =/

Yale Political Union (not sure yet which party i’d join!)

Volunteering

Yale Precision Marching Band! scatter bands = awesome =D

hmm…idk if i’ll have the time to do all of these :(

thanks eating food for reviving this! I’ve been busy/sleeping all weekend ;)

YALE BHANGRA!!! Think Bollywood meets America meets real life. Omg so awesome. I have to try out even though I can’t dance. I even contacted a chick who is on the team (can you say Facebook stalker) and she told me how awesome it is again.

I also want to try crew…or sailing…something in the water!

On the TD blog (which is really cool…you guys should all visit it), one guy is taking an EMT class. I’m a lifeguard, so it’s a natural progresssion to become an EMT (and then maybe a paramedic? then an Emergency Room Physician!). I love danger and high-risk and injuries!!! Well, fake injuries, like the ones you get to pretend to do while you’re in EMT class!

Yale Daily News Magazine…it’s a really nice read, and I’d love to write for them. Sweet feature stories about Yale and New Haven, nice layout, smaller staff and probably not as hectic as the YDN.

Yale Herald. It’s a weekly, also nice and feature-y, and it seems like it would be more fun than the YDN. The stories often are rather risque, and have a funny twist.

Yale Rumpus. The Yale humor tabloid…it’s hilarious and they do the Yale’s 50 Most Beautiful People issue. I’d get to meet loads of hot guys! lol…can you tell I like to write?

Elizabethan Club- if I get tapped. Tea everyday? Shakespeare’s first folios for club members viewing pleasure? Access to an awesome clubhouse? Count me in.

Master’s Aide. I’d love to hang out with pretty much any of the 12 masters, especially the one’s with the cute little kiddies! Plus I bet I’d get in on some hot RC secrets and sweet perks.

Spizzwinks(?)

In short, A Cappella at Yale is far and away the best in the country. I would be in any of those groups and be beyond happy about it (but, God, if you’re listening, Duke’s Men and Whiffs, please oh please pretty please)
