It is usually credits you get from transferring. I got a 1000T course from spanish at a community college that I transferred. Some AP courses transfer as 1000T or 2000T as well (some of the histories??)

There are no such courses. 1000T is only a designation for credits received for a class not taught at the University. The T stands for “Non-UVa transfer/test credit.”

For example – in my S’s day, one could get credit for a score of 4 or 5 on the AP government test. That credit was in the area of politics, but there is no UVa course that correlates directly with the AP US Gov course. So, he received 3 hours of credit – listed as PLAP1000 on his transcript – but he did not get credit for completing a specific politics course. That contrasts with with the credit he received for his AP US History score. There he received credit for HIUS 2001 and 2002.

Where is the quote on the site? I can’t find ASTR 1000T on the website anywhere.

Let’s do an example.

Suppose you are trying to satisfy the math/science requirement. If you get any credits from an AP test, none of those transfer as 1000T so they would count towards the requirement.
Suppose you take any class at UVA besides evsc 2030 and math 1030. That class would count.
Suppose you took a class BEFORE fall of your first year (“before matriculation”) at a community college or otherwise. If it transfers as 1000T, it doesn’t count. If it transfers as anything but 1000T, such as 2000T or 1310 etc, it counts.
Suppose you take a class AFTER fall of your first year at any college besides UVA. It doesn’t count because you can’t transfer requirements “after you matriculate.”
Suppose you take any class at UVA pass/fail or audit. Doesn’t count because all classes for area requirements must get a grade.
Suppose you only take math classes. You need to take at least 1 science class because you have to take 12 credits total between at least 2 departments (this is what I had to do being a math major… I took some astronomy courses).
