<p>I just got accepted at some point today! My ACTs are 34, and I have a 3.6UW, 4.3W, going into engineering. My transcript didn’t arrive untill Nov. 15.</p>
<p>We caught the online chat on the site up today and my son asked what the procedure is. The rep said that they are continuing to post acceptances as they finalize. When asked whether they are going to post ‘non-acceptances’, the rep indicated that, to his knowledge, that hadn’t been determined. Apparently this is the first year for posting online for Case. </p>

<p>I applied for EA and sent my application + SAT scores before November 1st, but mailed my high school transcript and secondary school report just last week. Will I still be considered for EA?</p>
<p>I lost my letter and thus do not know my ID or password. I really would like to know my decision. What should i do? I remember my ID I think, how do I confirm it? Then how would I get my password?</p>

atomic, your idea should have some letters and numbers. The password was something you set up and selected yourself. Why not just call them?</p>

<p>The last part of my app (a non-required teacher rec) arrived on Nov. 7. Everything else was there on or before the 1st. So if you’re still waiting, don’t worry. It looks like they’re doing them based on when the app came in. <p>My stats: 2250 (1450 M+V), 3.8UW GPA (4.4 W), 740/680 SATIIs, mostly APs or Honors classes taken in high school, good ECs, good essay, but it was taken from an application to a different college.</p>

<p>Hey everyone, I’m a freshman at Case right now and I just thought I’d note that Case is an EXTREMELY disorganized school when it comes to admissions and scholarships, etc. Last year I didn’t get the first “admit one” envelope (you’ll see these later, if they’re still using them this year), but I got the second one-which didn’t have most of the essential information needed for me to put in my deposit. Later I got a letter saying that I was on the waiting list…after I’d already been admitted. Case later lost my financial aid info three or four times (some of it is still messed up)…so, to make a long story short, be patient with the admissions people. Case has been getting substantially more applications with each coming year, and they’re unprepared to handle the new influx.</p>
<p>HI I’m a first year freshman too and I didn’t have a bad experience in terms of Case’s organization. I received the letter of admission, got the trustees scholarship, everything worked out.</p>
<p>I really like Case by the way. But you do have to study.</p>

<p>i think its because lots of early decision ivy’ers apply to case as a saftyish school. prob not that standards are low, more like most people who apply are qualified.</p>
<p>psatmadness, I was reading the archives. I am so glad you are having a good experience. So how is the workload? Aren’t you BME? My D would be Bio/neuroscience. How would it compare? What do you think about your grades, social life and campus from a freshman’s perspective? Thanks. D’s getting excited but frightened at the same time. LOL. “Dad, Case is a school I’ll REALLY have to spend some time at!!” Most all her other schools are small and self-contained or rural.</p>
<p>apple17, first of all they DEFINETELY weren’t accepting that many people this year. They definetely learned from last year that if they get more applications they need to reject people as well (what a novel idea!).
The reason for this is Case has a very self-selecting applicant pool: to be honest it’d be very rare for a student not up to snuffs to apply in the first place (as there’s nothing here to attract a humanities student who loves to party and such). So the acceptance rate is high but it’s mainly because people who wouldn’t fit in never get to the applying stage of things.</p>
<p>I would agree, stargirl. My S is currently freshman at Case, and it is academically rigorous. He has found that many strong high school students were surprised at how much work is required at Case. He told us when home Tday that he is so happy to finally be surrounded by people that take education as seriously as he does. Case is not for the academically challenged. </p>
<p>Admission standards have not been lowered. They are high due to the quality of applicants. That has not changed, nor is likely to. However, what may change is that fewer accepted students will attend as Case has already posted raised tuition rate for next year. The annual cost is getting up there, and I think that will deter many from attending if they get a better financial deal elsewhere.</p>
<p>FYI for those looking for merit aid, what you receive as a freshman is what you get throughout, even if the amount of “named” scholarship is increased for future freshman classes. The Trustee’s scholarship was increased $1700/year over last year’s award for current applicants. Did not increase same as tuition increase, but is up nonetheless. Previous recipients still get the lower amount again next year. I was not thrilled to hear that, as my S’ tuition goes up to, but the merit award does not.</p>
<p>I agree, TheMom, that the tuition hikes ARE in fact something to be concerned about. I read about it in a previous post and the poster said that it didn’t matter, as the amount you pay as a student (well, as a parent) doesn’t change. But it does if you’re not maxed out on your EFC. So if my S receives a merit award that’s about 1/2 of current tuition (which is what I expect), we need to be cognizant of the fact that that’s it. If tuition goes up, I believe that’s ‘on us’. </p>
<p>My S has wanted to go to Case forever. I was worried that with all the recruitment they have been doing (and free applications), the applicant pool would get larger and the school would get more selective. I still find it amazing that the acceptance rate is so high. I agree that the school is relatively unknown and here on the East Coast, no one wants to venture west. Even CMU is a reach for many when it comes to locale. They will go to Maine or South Carolina, just not Ohio or Illinois. So when my S tells people that he’s been accepted to UIUC and Case, they don’t have a clue. I don’t understand it, but good for us that don’t have that bias.</p>
<p>Apple, you can imagine the response in Kansas when my S decided to attend Case. What? Where? Never heard of it around here. </p>
<p>Of course, Kansas and Ohio share the notoriety for having “conservative” science standards for public schools.</p>

<p>Case is a lot of work, especially the engineering majors. “The Insiders Guide” ranks it as second in work load after MIT. I have friends at MIT and I can say that this sounds like it’s true. However, the students study together and that’s really helpful. The first semester was a shock to me because I never studied in high school(I’m sure you’ve heard that before). </p>
<p>By the way I don’t think they’ve ever accepted 95%. I think in the past it’s been in the 70s. Data for last year’s class is out – they had 7,173 applications and admitted 4,884. That’s not 95% - 47% were outside of Ohio by the way and another 2% international.</p>
