???

psatmadness, I had to chuckle when I read “the first semester was a shock to me” . As I read it I thought of my first semester at college 3 (checkered past ) when among other things I had mistakenly been placed in Honor’s Physics. Not only had I not studied in high school, I hadn’t studied at my two previous colleges. I was “shocked” myself. Glad you survived.

How has the social scene been for you? My D wants it all - big time academics and research, and fun kids who don’t have to drink to have a good time. She would NOT be happy at a school where everybody stayed in the rooms and played video games. Are there plenty of on campus events to attend that interest you? Really I guess I’m looking at quality of student life issues because CWRU seems to have everything else she wants (assuming she’s as scholarship worthy as I think she is).

The social scene is what you make of it. I joined a couple of clubs but found I didn’t have time for one of them. I go out with a group to movies etc. and we’re going to a concert after break. Case always has something going on. Some people do party but many don’t (I don’t drink etc. and don’t feel in the minority). I had a choice from a number of colleges and am really glad I picked Case.

I just got the official acceptance letter from case (it’s in a small envelope…?). There was no word on any merit scholarships. Does this mean I don’t get any???

atomic-if that’s the situation (almost said Case), then y’all are all in trouble. 1500/2230 w/3 Subject Tests over 750? I have to think that they have switched this around from last year when the scholarships did come with the acceptances. I’d feel comfortable that was the …uhhh…situation until someone did get a scholarship-then I’d be calling. Good luck.

Yeah, atomic, you must be getting a scholarship. I may call Case again about it.

hey, yea i just got my letter, and it says in the letter that i got the presidents scholarship, which is actually quite a sum of money.
now im torn about case and another school i got in that i really wanna go to.

nanaijuh:

I too was torn between a number of schools: hopkins, WUSL, Duke to name a few. But I got a scholarship to Case and that made my decision for me. I’m glad I made this decision (I’m currently a freshman).

ummmmm, so I didn’t get a scholarship??? OMG???

I just got the acceptance letter along with a $15,700/year scholarship! Yay! Atomic, I guess that means you may not be getting money, maybe call Case and find out?

I just called and they said I didn’t get a scholarship. What the ****??? I considered case with a scholarship my number one choice…

oh my god…

how did i not get a scholarship

my stats are similar to chocolate… what am i going to do??? i needed this scholarship more than anything…

yea psatmadness… yea i got in hopkins too, where i really really wanna go, and my scholarship from case is quite substiantial…agh i dont know what to do!

what are your stats nana? just to see, because I think mine are fairly up there…

sat: 1500 m+v 730 writing
sat II: math IIc 780, Ic 770, chem 750, lit 690
rank: top 3% at very good public school
with very good essays and good recs

by the way I got into boston college honors program… with the same application… which is top 5% of the applicants… who are already better than case’s applicants

I jsut don’t get it

uhh my stats are no way near urs:
sat: 740 m, 680 cr, 720 wr
sat ii: 680 iic, 660 phyz
rank:…haha top 30%
i guess good essays and recs

ummmm i have no idea, looks like u really shoulda gotten a sholarship. but still, like ive showed interest in the school before i applied and stuff, and i sent in a piano cd, and i have a few substantial ec’s. hows ur other stuff? also, maybe case thought that they were too much of a safety for u.

I got the president’s scholarship (or whatever it’s called). It’s for $20,800 and is renewable.

Stats (are on a different page) but are basically 2250 (1450) and 3.8. SATIIs were 720 and 680. My essay was awesome.

Just got my letter today with the Trustee’s scholarship ($25,700 yearly). Sorry to hear your bad luck, atomicfusion… maybe it’s because you’re being considered for one of their full ride scholarhips?

It looks like those aren’t awarded until April-ish.

Good luck to you regardless!

Well my essays were really good and my uncle’s entire family went to case. Also I showed interest because I’ve been on campus visits twice and met with an admissions officer at my school. I just don’t understand it. Also my ECs are really good too with national awards and a president position and community service.

My best friend’s father is a professor Case though and knows the director of admissions so he’s going to see what he can do.

hm has everyone gotten there acceptance letters? Maybe its because i live in NJ, IDK. I know I got accepted, cause i checked online, but I really want to know if i got any scholarships.

Btw can anyone comment on their comp sci and english program and whether or not I can double major in the two. To tell you the truth I really know very little about case, I was shocked I was accepted in the first place, cause I kinda randomly applied and my sats and other stats are real weak compared to other acceptees.

oh great. Now I can join the freakout. Mail came today and no letter for D. A-fusion, I don’t have any idea. Something has got to be wonked somewhere. It’ll probably happen to my kid , too. I feel for you but I know you’ll have plenty to choose from in April. Good luck to you and everybody waiting. Congrats to the scholarship winners.

Feel free to call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 216.368.4450. They were really helpful when I called the other day inquiring about when I’d be receiving a letter. They said that most letters were mailed out on Monday and Tuesday, so if you live far away from Cleveland, your letter is probably en route currently. :)
