what the h ll. that doesn’t make any sense. a sat of 2170, satii of MII-790 , chem-780, and us history-740. there is no way i could have gotten rejected. not to sound cocky, but i believe that is true. no offense stargirl , but i just have a hard time buying that and i also have a legacy at case as well. something else must be up. it might be i sent my applicaton on the last possilbe day. ???

actually i was thinking. that would be pretty dam funny. accepted to u of chicago and rejected at case even though it has such a higher acceptance rate. the arbitrary method of college admissions!

Hey I’m just saying what I heard- I certainly wasn’t wishing rejection on anyone or anything like that!

Still no change in status and no letter today. We are in NJ, maybe tomorrow. I tend to agree with Stargirl (haven’t heard anything on the grapevine though), but am just as confused as Brown. Better stats than others receiving scholarships, but no updating on web. I hope you are right Brown, my S also submitted his ap on the last day and some of his school items came in after 11/1.

You can always just call the admissions office to find out if you made the EA cutoff. We called a few days after Nov 1, since my S’s items didn’t show online as received. They checked and said that they had everything and he would be considered for early action (even though they hadn’t made it through the administrative channels). While I’ve heard that they are disorganized, every time we’ve contacted them, they have been courteous and responsive and checked on my S’s individual status.

Thanks apple,
We did call and they have been very nice. They did confirm that the ap was filed on time and yesterday they did tell my son that a decision has been made and a letter is in the mail, but they wouldn’t tell him the decision. That is also part of the reason we feel it is probably a rejection. We know his stats are very good, but the intangibles (essays, ec’s, strength of high school, etc.) are hard to quantify and compare with everyone else on cc. I hope I haven’t insulted anyone by my previous comments. Just because my S stats are similar or possibly higher than others, there are reasons the adcom may place my S lower and even reject him. No sour grapes here, just anxiety.

PLANTREE, no harm -no foul . LOL. We’re all in this together.

I’m sure that he’ll get in. If not -it is their loss. Your son has many fine acceptances and I’m sure he will have many fine choices. Good luck.

I live outside of near Buffalo, NY and havn’t get a letter yet.

I seriously doubt you guys were rejected, it wouldn’t make sense. But then again, I seriously doubted that I wouldn’t receive a scholarship too. The Case admissions office could just have horrible organization. They probably didn’t tell you over the phone because it’s a rule that they can’t.

still haven’t gotten anything yet. i just don’t get it how many other ccers have already gotten an acceptance, while i live in akron and have gotten nothing

My S got the thin letter today here in NJ, rejected. He will have to consider his other choices now. No sour grapes, just some disapointment. I guess this isn’t as bad as getting accepted with scholarship consideration from Tulane and then having his possible major choices (CompE, CE, EE and ME) all liquidated before he can even think of going there. My wife said, “how can Case be sending us two letters a day since August and then reject him with his stats”. We can only make assumptions, but then go forward. UIUC, Wisconsin, Penn State and Purdue all have accepted him and all have great engineering programs. He is also waiting on RPI (the only other smaller school on his match list). Everyone good luck at Case, maybe see you on the other threads.

i feel for you plantree. i probably get rejected as well and i think i have a very legit reason why but which has nothing to do with stats at all.

sorry to hear about the rejections, it seems college admissions is a crap shoot after all. Tis the luck of the draw.

Sorry PLANTREE, I am quite surprised. But you know, D may get bad news in the scholarship letter that WILL NEVER COME. Sorry about the shouting. I’m all better now.

plantree…so sorry to hear about the rejection. I’m finding out Case is real funny…well you son has other options…good luck

PLANTREE, I just wanted to echo the condolences above. Good luck where ever you end up going!

i still haven’t got anything yet and the status check stills says one of the counselors is reviewing the application. i don’t know what to do!

browns, have you called your adcom before? If not, man I’d wait till Tuesday morning and call . No mail till then anyway. There were kind to us when we couldn’t get confirmation that the initial package had arrived. If you haven’t been peppering them with calls, I’d call and politely ask them. Handled correctly it may be considered an expression of interest that works in your favor if a decision has not been made. Good luck.

Plantree, I am also sorry about your S. He deserved to get in. Case admissions is just crazy this year. Maybe they made a mistake? Case admissions is well known for being possibly the most unorganized and inexperienced admissions office.

So my friend’s father called (a professor at case) to ask why I didn’t get anything and my friend says they were “scared” and said they’d re-evaluate it at once. At least I won’t have to wait until april for them to re-evaluate and I have some hope now!!!
