hey everyone, this is just a post for ppl who have a low SAt score, like the 1200 range. I, personally, have a 1210, 3.7 unweighted gpa, 3.9-4.1 weighted gpa, 6 APs, (mostly science and math coz i’m applying to engineering schools). lots of Ecs, president of 3 Clubs for 2-3 years, class rep, several science olympiad regional and state awards, math competitions, math award, technology awards both state and national. engineering company summer inten. cisco summer camp leader. das all, and i’m applying to
ga tech (reach)
uiuic (reach)
purdue (match->reach)
virginia tech (match)
nc state (in-state) (match)
havn’t heard from anyone yet coz i applied late.
anyone else?

1300.

lol @ the title :)

any more STAT? GPA, ECs, schools applied, accepted, rejected? :)

3.5+ unweighted (includes my C in frosh PE lol…Academic GPA would be higher)
5 AP classes by end of senior year (only taken 2 so far, 1 being self-study…4 this year)
Handful of clubs, low-officer in a couple (secretary)
103 hours volunteer work (mostly at a senior center)
Applied: NYU (reach), UCs (reaches), Cal States (safeties), Fordham (slight reach), Santa Clara (match)
Accepted: San Francisco State, San Jose State
Rejected: None yet (fingers crossed)

haha lol
1270, SAT2s over 2050 (That one low math…gr… lol)
3 APs, lots of Honors (interesting note, supposedly our school offers like 14 APs or more… but, almost noone takes more than 3 or 4 by senior year. There are only 250 enrolled in ALL APs and by first quarter, at least 100 to 150 of those have dropped.

Continuing about those APs quickly - it is 250 students out of 2800 students in the school.

and of course, I forgot to mention, Lot’s of EC’s, been working since freshman year… have the “over-coming adversity” issue (just recently got the Horatio Alger scholarship). Am minority if that helps (both parents are immigrants to usa from chile) and am “social-economically disadvantaged”… And have college credits racked up too from community college and UCONN. Varsity sport - Won States. I do the artsy stuff on my own accord (portraits and piano) and yea… that’s it.

Gee guys, a 1200-1300 SAT score isn’t low at all. The average at my high school was somewhere in the 800 range…

1300 (730v, 570m)

Damn You Math!!!

I agree with athena. At my school a 1200 is the upper echelon, the top .1%, if you will.

lol…my school’s average is a 1000. Don’t u say 1200+ is low…it’s pretty high…imagine, 78% of ppl who’ve taken it get below…
so we’re in the top fifth…as they say

Hmm… I have a 28 ACT(about 1260), 4.5 wGPA, 3.9 u/w, 4/350 rank(although most have much higher scores then I), county and statewide leadership positions in student council, top of school SGA, VP of key club, sports during 9-10-11, computer programming team leader, mock trial, etc. Applied as a female for engineering at(in order of preference)

Lafayette (reach)
Lehigh (reach)
Smith (reach)
UDel (match)
Syracuse (safety/match)
UMiami (match)
Northeastern (safety/match)
UMd (instate) (safety)
USouth Carolina (safety) (accepted- you have no idea how happy I was when I got the letter. I didn’t apply to that many safety schools and in Dec I was getting really worried that I would be accepted to none… talk about paranoia)

ANYONE ELSE?

if your SAT score is only slightly above your school’s average, THAT"S BAD!!! unless u don’t wanna go to the top 100 u.s. colleges but realistically, i think most ppl on CC would think a 1200+ is a very low SAT compare to their 1500+

crazyforee- true, but CCers also realize the importance of ECs, grades, and course load. It isn’t just about standardized scores like the world seems to make it out like.

i hope you are right, coz as u probably know, my SAT is pretty low for all teh schools i applied :(

lol yeah 1200+ is low? LOL

Try an 1130 geez.

did u get in any top university with 1130? well, unless u r a minority of athlete

1260 (710 M; 550 V)

I have a decent EC list, steady job since i was a freshman, 5 AP’s this year, 4.2 w gpa…
applying to: emory, ga tech, unc (instate), and case

oh and i have an LD

u r from NC, same here… COOL!!! what school do u go to? i go to east chapel hill

I go to east forsyth in kernersville. its not as well known as yours…so i wouldnt be surprised if you havent heard of it
