I am so saddened by this story.

I just don’t understand the anger or hatred that exists that would allow someone to do that. I’m mostly against the death penalty but I would make an exception for him.
I’m sick. My school has a significant Muslim population and just imagining this happening to any of my friends…the fear and anger would be unreal.

Not a hate crime … just another murder of a young woman by a psycho. They can’t execute the creep fast enough for me.
yea I guess they will have to see what the other members of the group say was yelled at them before the murder in order to decide if it is a hate crime…
either way, I will be happy if this guy gets the death penalty, though I think a long prison sentence is more likely.

I know I am not going to be a popular person here but…This is a very sad story about a young lady being killed for no apparent reason. The fact that she was Muslin may or may not have been a factor, so the article says.
Innocent people are, tragically, killed every day in this country. Let’s look at each and every one of these and not only the Muslin, Black Latino, Gay. None of them are acceptable! NONE!!

@soccerguy315 interesting that the Washington Post updated the article to state it was a road rage incident but did not update it to include that the murderer is in this country illegally.
The Loudoun news story indicates that this young bum is simply a homicidal lunatic and perhaps not a bigot. Either way he was and is dangerous. I can’t wait to hear his defense. Likely it will be some fairy tale or another.

@LakeWashington the Loudoun news story is also one of the very few that is reporting that the murderer is in this country illegally. CBS and NBC don’t think it’s an important fact to report. Seriously surprised how many news outlet let this story drop when they found out it wasn’t a “hate crime” and involved someone not in the country legally. This guy is dangerous and should never have been here in the first place. I hope they throw the book at him! I kind of wonder why her friends ran away and just left her alone to confront this crazy guy.
Possibly they feared they’d all be killed if they didn’t flee. A metal baseball bat can harm many people. How would you defend yourself against someone wielding a metal baseball bat?
Saftey in numbers? It was a group against one person with a bat not a gun. If they felt in fear for their lives they should have dragged her along with them but you just don’t leave your friend alone in danger.
