2-3 WEEKS for college to receive Common App after submitting?

My kiddo is really anxious after submitting his Common App to Colorado School of Mines (his top school). He was surprised and upset to see a window pop up saying that it takes 2-3 weeks for schools to receive application information. He knows that Mines is rolling and he was was encouraged at a Mines summer program to submit as early as possible, especially for scholarship consideration. (He tried, this was the earliest he could manage and it was still a push.) After seeing this, we went to the Mines website and saw that there is a “Golden Application” which seems to be a direct submission to Mines. Would it be a good idea to resubmit directly through Mines’ Golden App? My poor kiddo is in a bit of a tailspin because we didn’t know that it was going to take that long for colleges to receive applications! That seems like information that should be more widely and prominently stated BEFORE applying.

Email Mines admission. Ask how long they take to set it up. Don’t duplicate.

You can ask if you should. But you don’t want them getting two apps.

When my son applied - they sent the golden app. No fee, no essay (he did anyway).

Be patient and ask b4 you make it worse.

Sorry he is stressed out. Maybe put it in perspective for him - kids where we live will submit their applications for our state universities and wait 4-5 months to hear the results. Patience is a virtue for a reason. Good luck to him!

That might be a standard pop up? I don’t recall seeing it, but almost all our applications were received/downloaded within a few days if not the next day.

That said, it could take a few weeks for it to be complete if they require recommendations, official transcript and you’re sending SAT scores.
