what’s this again?

AP State Scholar, it’s the most prestigious AP award. They should release the number of APs.

Actually, it’s the 2006-07 Siemens Awards for AP. Best AP’s out of each state, by Student, Teacher, and School.

It’s more prestigious than the AP National Scholar because there are only 2 kids from each state; one is a boy and the other is a girl. There are only 104 of these every year; 52 are male and 52 are female. AP National Scholar has over a thousand fold more students. AP State Scholar is the hardest to achieve.

There are 52 states?

Well it says here: <a href=“Siemens Foundation - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy - Siemens USA”>Siemens Foundation - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy - Siemens USA;

Nice, one person from my school.

50 states and 2 national winners, but i guess that’s not actually true since it’s only 46 states then

Yeah, I think only the science/math APs count for this.

I know Allen. Yay, congrats to him!

And to the two state winners I also know.

I know one of the state winners too – congrats to her!

Why is it based on state? It should be based on population density. If I had known earlier, I would have moved to Wyoming for High School.

How many 5s does one need, usually? I live in Iowa, so is 4 out of 8 5’s good enough?

sorry, probably not.

No, for AP State Scholar, lowest is usually in the 15s for number of APs. Some states are around 20 APs, some are probably more. You just have to get the most and pass the minimum in your state.

Everyone gets AP National Scholar if you take 8 APs with an average of at least 4, but AP State Scholar has only a limited number of recipients with a HIGH goal to reach.

Well, sometimes, some states don’t even get close to that number of APs so they don’t have any winners from that state.

Asians are definitely dominating this list…

Masterus, this award has nothing to do with those given out by Collegeboard (such as National or State AP Scholars). Siemens AP Awards are given out solely on the basis of math/science AP scores, and it’s probably actually awarded based on the exact point scores students get on these math/science tests, since lots of students are going to have 5s on multiple math/science tests.

Ahhh>< It’s scary how many Chinese names are on that list.

<a href=“Siemens Foundation - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy - Siemens USA”>Siemens Foundation - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy - Siemens USA;

For those seeking an idea of how many APs are needed, the girl I know who won this award only had 5s on six of these. But perhaps Florida is an uncompetitive state.

dang it…shoulda moved to west virginia…
