SAT I composite after Jan: 2400
SAT II’s: IIc 800 Physics 800 Eng Lit 700
ACT: 35

ECs and Awards:
nothing special
Varsity Track and Cross Country

DECISIONS:
Florida: Rejected
Villanoa : EA deferred then accepted
Notre Dame : EA accepted (attending) I have a sibling here though
MIT: Rejected
Columbia: RD waitlisted then rejected
Auburn: Accepted
Rose Hulman: Accepted

the florida decision is a little surprising, but good luck at ND, maybe ill see you there in 2007

I actually expected the Florida rejection. I had attended a summer program thing there as a junior which allowed me to apply EA rather than ED so my scores wern’t as high at the time. Florida also considers GPA much more heavily than test scores so a 3.4 wasn’t going to make the cut. Plus my essay wasn’t very good.

Notre Dame is the one that surprised me.

I’ll add my Stats and Results to give ppl another example

UW GPA: 3.84
SAT: 680M 670V 630W (1980)
ACT: 29
SAT II: 690 Math II… 640 Bio 590 Us Hist
Class Rank: 28/ 822 top 4%
Recs: basically explained my leadership skills and drive

EC’s… really nothing special… 3 years mock trial… part time job… did some other stuff nothing eye opening

Applied to:

Ohio State: Accepted ( Honors program)
Boston U: Accepted ( Now attending or will be)
BC: Waitlisted
Vanderbilt: Waitlisted
Corenell AEM (Their Biz program): Waitlisted
Tufts: Rejected
Johns Hopkins: Rejected
Case Western: Accepted

Hope this helps somewhat… i was pretty pleased with how i handled the whole process

Wow, Notre Dame accepting you is shocking, but your ACT is also shocking good, so it equals out.

SATs: 730 CR, 680 M, 620 W: 1410/2030(I don’t any of my schools looked at the writing section this past year)

Long-form Info

Extracurricular Info
Fundraising is my strong point ($$$ donated generally 1/2 to HS senior class & other 1/2 to help w/ China’s orphanages - my family adopted & I am really involved w/ that):
*Ran a golf tournament & silent auction fundraiser. Raised $11,400. 51 golfers, 96 dinner guests. 360 personal volunteer hrs; other volunteers put in another 450.
*Ran a Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser. Raised $1,600. 160 participants. 80 personal volunteer hrs; other volunteers put in another 90
*Ran a Luncheon Fundraiser. Raised $1,100. 65 lunch guests. 25 personal volunteer hrs.

Other strong point:
*Wrote a ~25pg paper that uses multivariate linear models to demonstrate a type of selection process in economics. I got an amazing rec from a college professor of mine - she said it was “much more advanced than any undergraduates I’ve taught at community college, NYU, and USC.”

Also:
*Started a small business at school that sells aids that make graphing easier for students. Made $350 last yr. Not sure about this yr, but profits are going to Hurricane relief.
*Volunteer as an assistant teacher in a program that helps children recently adopted from China keep in touch w/ Chinese language/culture (my family adopted my sister 2 yrs ago). Also started a program to donate a box of essentials to a different orphanage in China each month.
*Cross Country & Track 9th - 11th
*Boys Scouts (Life Scout)
*Math tutor
*Religious School & Service
*Freshman Mentor

Work Experience
*Worked at McDonald’s since end of sophomore year (18 months). 13hrs/wk year round
*Peer Tutor 3hrs/wk yr round

Awards (nothing special):
*AP Scholar w/ Honor
*Finalist in ROP Business & Management Program
*Finalist in SoCal Leadership Contest
*“Most Likely to Change the World” - maybe means something in class of 700
*Honor Roll & CSF
