any chance nevada will upset boise st? homefield advantage?

on a side note, oregon will probably go perfect, and so will the winner of tcu/utah. I don’t think auburn will make it.

so… tcu vs oregon in the NC?

so… tcu vs oregon in the NC?

I think SEC Champ will go to national championship game (either Alabama or Auburn). Alabama is right behind TCU and with their schedule getting tougher every week, they’ll get pass TCU if they win out. They’ll probably pair up Boise and TCU/Utah for another BCS bowl.

Alabama won’t jump TCU if they both win out, at least not in the computers. Alabama is wayy behind, and TCU only has 3 games left, including Utah.

It will be interesting to see what the pollsters decide to do with Utah if they beat TCU.

I’ll take a 1-loss SEC team over an undefeated Boise or TCU any day of the week. Especially for Boise, SoS will prevent them from reaching the national championship.

For the record, I expect to see undefeated Oregon vs. undefeated Auburn in the NC game. Boise and TCU just might end up playing each other in a bowl, again…

Boise State vs TCU won’t happen again this year. As long as Oregon vs SEC champion is the the title game, whichever of Boise/TCU/Utah who is highest ranked will contractually end up in the Rose Bowl playing the Big 10 champion.

TCU to the Big East? Before you laugh at the distance (~1500 miles to UConn) remember that for 30 years Washington and Arizona (~1200 miles) played every year in the Pac-10.

Also, it’s not unreasonable that the Big East could petition the NCAA to split into 5 team divisions and hold a title game with 10 teams. The 12 team requirement is arbitrary and unless other D-1 conferences object to it could be changed easily.

Unless the 10th team is Villanova or Notre Dame, this just shows how the Big East is throwing basketball under the bus for football. An 18 team basketball conference is crazy not even considering a ridiculous 18 team tournament at the end of the season.

Michigan State was an upset but not a particularly surprising one, given that their 8-0 record came off of essentially 6 home games + 1 road game vs Michigan (within the state, and has a bad defense) + 1 road game vs Northwestern (that they struggled in). Also needed OT to beat a Notre Dame team that lost to Navy and Tulsa.

Still, there’s no cure as good for shaking off a bad loss, like playing a team whose coach is already fired (Minnesota). Look for MSU to be 9-1 and still in Rose Bowl range.

Alabama is 2,3 spots behind TCU in the computer, that’s not way behind (especially if Utah loses, Alabama is only 1,2 places behind TCU). Given the schedule strength Alabama still have 3 ranked teams to play (including #1/2 Auburn). TCU only plays Utah and then 2 cupcakes. Remember Oklahoma is way behind TCU and Boise? After beating uhhh unranked Iowa State they jumped to #1.

I wouldn’t be surprise if beating Auburn gives Alabama #2 spot in every poll (and probably #1 spot if they win SEC champ game since Oregon has a bye). So yeah, as funny as it sounds, Alabama has a very solid chance of going to the championship game IF they win out.

So Auburn has 2 weeks to prepare for Bama, but Bama is at home for the last 3 weeks. In addition, Bama is probably desperate to avoid a 3rd loss, especially if they got homefield advantage.

I say bama over auburn and TCU vs Oregon in NC.

I think Auburn will beat Alabama. Even though it is an away game for Auburn, they lost last year and don’t want to do that again and if they lose to Alabama, they will lose their chance for the National Title. I think we will see Auburn at its best at the Iron Bowl.

Auburn’s defense still hasn’t blown me away. Even today, they gave away 24 points… to Chatanooga. I think a very motivated Bama (or GEORGIA!) offense could do serious damage.

On the other hand, Cam Newton is insane and most of Auburn’s games turn into offensive shootouts anyway.

P.S. Congratulations LSU! Great victory today!

This is a moot point now with Alabama losing, but TCU was #3 in the computers and Alabama was 15th. So that’s 12 spots. And yeah, that’s wayy (this was a typo in my original post, but I like the effect) behind.

quote

And I seriously doubt they would bump a one loss team over a team that’s posted 50+ against all their toughest opponents.

Joepa got his 400th win last night. The stadium was packed and intense. The parties afterward were phenomenal.

There’s no other school like Penn State.

400 wins is impressive. Is that the highest in college football? If you coach for 40 years and get 10 wins every season, then you’ll reach that mark, WOW.

That will probably happen, but then Boise State will go berserk. I think Boise State got robbed again this year. They beat everyone they’re asked to beat and they are still ranked behind Oregon and TCU. You may say their schedule/conference sux but consider these:

Boise St is ranked ahead of both TCU and Oregon in preseason
Boise St defeated both TCU and Oregon last year
Boise St 's strength of schedule (#58) is higher than both TCU (#61) and Oregon (#80) THIS YEAR
and Boise St is ranked behind both TCU and Oregon, really?

There’s no single rating for strength of schedule. All of the computer rankings that publish SOS have TCU above Boise State.

That this could be considered significant is one of the biggest problems with college football.

Oregon is a very different team; TCU beat Boise St the year before. You can’t judge teams based on previous years.

If there’s a ranking, there must be a pre-season ranking based on last year results and players returning. If there’s no pre-season ranking, how can the weekly ranking be accurate? Every team starts off ranked #120? Some team will jump 120 spots in a week? If there isn’t a starting point, how do you go from there?

TCU beat Boise the year before, that’s why last year they were ranked ahead of Boise in pre-season and throughout the season. Boise never passed TCU last year but they were the better team when the 2 met. This year Boise St returns 23 starters and TCU were missing key players from both offense and defense.

Boise St have an edge in most if not all the factors involving in ranking, yet they are ranked behind. I was watching last night’s game between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati on ESPN and they said if the current ranking stands, if the season ends today, Boise wouldn’t even go to a BCS bowl. I find that hilarious and it shows how corrupt college football is.

boise st play all 4 weeks of their last 4 weeks. The rest of the top 4 play 2 or 3. Do you think Boise st will get into the NC because of that?

Please Nevada, upset Boise. justice lies in your hand.

You don’t need a starting point to evaluate how good each team is.

That’s because there’s a 4 way tie for 1st in the Big 10 right now, so it would be hard to not have 2 teams from that conference in the BCS. That won’t be the case at the end of the season though. As long as one of Ohio State, Wisconsin and Stanford lose (especially Stanford), Boise State should be golden. If they all win out, the Fiesta Bowl could still save them.

Did anyone else watch the Wisconsin game yesterday? Indiana just got steamrolled.

I did! Embarrassing but hilarious at the same time.

These next two weeks are the only time I will EVER root for Michigan to win (against Wisconsin and Ohio State)…keep my Spartans Rose Bowl hopes alive!

How fricking lucky can MSU get this year? So frustrating, they need to lose already! Need my Badgers to be smelling Roses next week, so hopefully OSU wins today.
