Mike Haywood. All i can say is

L O L.

Shouldn’t have fired dave if they didn’t have someone better lined up. AD at pitt looks like an idiot right now. what if they took richrod from michigan? one man’s trash is another’s treasure. just imagine the backyard brawl then

I played for RR, sPITT would never take him, not with his baggage, not after they just had to fire a coach for slappin-up a woman. Especailly not after being fired at Michigan (if it happens) and being severely hated in WV.

Ditto Mike Leach.

I have a feeling it may be Bradley from Penn State.

The real coaching story will be at Michigan if RR is fired. You will see some big names being thrown around and some bit time OC’s and HC’s from other schools being mentioned.

However, I’m not sure he will be fired. LOI day is just around the corner so it wouldn’t leave the new coach much time to get down to business and not shoot himself in his own foot in his first year.

Really happy for TCU. Great win for them.
Not surprised Michigan State lost, though.

All hail the SEC West. Yes our academics suck, but so what?

Ugh, Michigan was embarrassing. Time to fire Rich Rod. LSU8888- watch out we’re coming for Les Miles one more time.

LSU8888: After the LSU game, I was unfortunately forced to admit that Les Miles is not crazy and is actually thinking on a higher level than everyone else in the world.

Eziamm: Really, it’s a bad idea. Rich Rodriguez has been improving albeit not quickly enough for Michigan’s lofty standards. Besides, Les Miles is a former offensive coordinator, and the defense is the problem. I’m not sure getting him would really be the answer to your problems.

Rich Rod has always been known for for taking the best athletes and placing them on offense, allowing the defense to operate as a bare-bones ship.

When RR was at WVU, people were always unhappy with Jeff Casteel (DC), and many wanted him fired. A few years later Casteel has the 2nd ranked defense in the country and is nominated for DC of the year.

There isn’t enough balance right now, and I don’t know why. Michigan is in a perfect location to recruit “big and uglies” on the defense side of the ball.

If he gets fired, I think he will just become an OC at a big time program.

ffffuuuuuu TCU. Wisconsin didn’t play anywhere close to the level they were at the whole season. Also, really Bielema? Yeah, let’s pass on a two-point conversion that would tie the game when passing has been getting shut down all night and running has been working great. Gotta love Mike McCarthy-esque calls that lose games.

I can understand how some people get angry over non-AQ schools getting good bowl games, but TCU is no joke.

That’s a real team that could win any BCS conference, or at least compete for any conference title.

No no, RichRod will be fired. The question is if we can get Harbaugh or Miles. All signs point to Harbaugh taking the job, John Clayton said NFL GM’s fully expect him to take it. The AD hasn’t given him any vote of confidence at all either. The bowl game was the final straw, you can’t operate with this bad of a defense.

Lolz Randy Edsall…Looks like RichRod is going to Whoconn.

Zero surprise there. The AD at Pitt is the former AD at Nebraska, the same one that fired Frank Solich with a .753, 58–19 record with 1 Big-12 title. Then hired Bill Callahan who promptly went .551, 27-22 and fired in favor of Bo Pelini.

Harbaugh to Michigan would be kind of surprising. If anything he would be willing to jump to the NFL. Same with Les Miles. The only way Miles would leave would be if he thought that anything worse than 9-3 next year would get him let go from LSU and if he wants out of that hotseat. But it’s not like Michigan is guaranteed to be better, not with the way they let go of Carr a few years ago.

If Michigan could get him, I would think Gary Patterson would be a great pick with his strong defensive coaching and recruiting knowledge in Texas. Certainly they could pay him more than TCU does, but he would have to be willing to leave a red hot TCU program that figures to be up for at least a few more years.

As for Pitt, if I were the AD there I would look at names like San Diego State’s Brady Hoke, UCF’s George O’Leary, or even Mississippi State DC Manny Diaz.

There are also accomplished HC’s like Ralph Friedgen and Randy Shannon that would be saving face hires, even though both were just fired by their respective schools.

From what I’m told, RR was given an out by your AD, either hire a good Defensive Coordinator or a change will be made, $1 million was freed up for salary. RR then said that to attract a good DC, he would need a contract extension because no qualified candidates want to take the job because of the uncertainty around his own job status and he can only sell them on a 1 year gig. No extension was offered.

I’m really 50/50 whether or not he will be fired. Personally, I’d give him one more year unless Harbaugh is on board and wants to make the jump. If not, give RR another year, there isn’t to many coaches on the market right now worth replacing him with, none that will be able to do much next season. LOI is around the corner and a coaching change will most likely mean recruits decommit like crazy, unless it’s a very good coach like Harbaugh coming to save the day.

Like I said, I was a player and still have a few decent contacts and get some good gossip from time to time, but I really don’t know much.

If you got rid of RR, who would you replace him with if you couldn’t get Harbaugh?

Those are the coaches they should have been looking at the first go-around.

Steve Pederson has turned this into a complete clust-you-know-what. Nebraska fans across the country are collectively saying, “WE TOLD YOU SO!”

After firing Wanny, Pederson (PITT) had two candidates, Al Goldman and Dana Holgorsen. Goldman got picked up by Miami and WVU grabbed up Holgorsen. This made Pederson look very bad…losing your top HC choice to your rival who at the time didn’t even have a vacancy at HC.

Haywood the Haymaker was a terrible selection. It was a complete pander to a PITT’s uppity donors who care more about perception than actual results. After Holgorsen went to WVU, PITT stated that he, “Didn’t pass the background check”, because he isn’t married and according to some has a reputation for being a night owl. So they then hire Haywood, a good who they said ran a tight ship, had morals, values, family-man, yada, yada.

Well, surprise! Haywood turns out to be a woman-beater who also happens to have an illegitimate child with a 23 year old girl, and if I do my math right it means she was probably around 20 when he got her pregnant.

Since hiring Haywood, PITT’s recruiting class has plummeted to 10. Wanny wasn’t a great coach, but he was a pretty good recruiter and he did have a great recruiting class waiting for next season - not anymore. Now, after the NYE’s strangulation and termination of Haywood PITT’s recruiting class is down to 6, with 3 about to jump ship also.

So, what does PITT do? You have a team that has a reputation for underachieving, a half full off campus stadium which only fills up when ND or WVU come to town (Mountaineer Field North), a completely disorganized athletic department led by an AD which most people want fired and a Dean who doesn’t care much about football to begin with, and a recruiting class that is dropping by the second! Who wants that job?

Any GOOD coach who is being courted by BCS caliber school will be smart enough to walk away from this job. Sure, it may be a step up for a guy like Brady Hoke…but in the next year or so a better job will come around.

Right now that PITT job is looking like a nightmare. They will either hire from within (Cignetti type) or go after another MAC type of coach who is willing to put his career on the line.

Their only good option would be Bradley from PSU, which really isn’t that good of a hire.

Of course, no offseason coaching changes would be complete without bringing up Chris Peterson. He’d be a good hire for Michigan, and you never know what may lead him to leave Boise State.

BEB- He’s gone for sure. Not one Michigan fan can still stand this guy. If we can’t get Harbaugh we’re looking at Les Miles, Brady Hoke, Pat Fitzgerald…Any one of these guys is better than RR.

^ Well, you might have good news today.

I believe RR is suppose to meet with your AD and discuss things with your AD.

I’d actually give him one more year, unless you got a great coach lined up.

And he’s fired

Mississippi State DC Manny Diaz to be Texas DC (replace Will Muschamp)

Good hire for Texas. Someone was bound to notice Mississippi State hold Auburn to 17 points.

And…I was right. Welcome to Ann Arbor Les Miles, it’s good to have you.
