**2011 APUSH Official Post-Test**

Anyone else taking the SAT II tomorrow in US History?

I didn’t write that sectional conflict resulted from political parties but rather the other way around. The rising sectionalism caused from the differences between the industrious north, plantation south, and agrarian west made civil war inevitable. But what the emergence of Andrew Jackson and Jacksonian democrats did was stomp on S. Carolina and prevented what could have been a pre-mature start to the war. Yeah that was my essay.

Juan: I did the same thing. According to what other people here have said, they don’t penalize you for wrong information, as long as you have correct information in your DBQ. Relieved :)

I may have written too much and messed up a bit.
I said McNamara was kinda important in escalating the war. Nixon was going to escalate the war (Which is actually true , but not many people know that) I said he used Vietnamization (but explained it wrong) and Ellsberg I was actually factually correct on. I mentioned OPEC. Also I called it the midnight massacre fail.

@ seansmart
I’m taking the us history subject test tomorrow. do you know if the questions are similar to the ap us questions.

DuBois wanted equality immediately, theres a mistake in saying he was violent.

Does anyone know if the essay generosity depends on the question? Like I wrote about the politics, which not many others did, so does that mean they will be more generous?

And seasmart, so am I.

guys, for the essay about national unity, i wrote about unity from manifest destiny, but political parties created sectionalism and division over issues about california and texas being free or slave states. i have a feeling its totally wrong since no one wrote about this -_-

■■■! I wrote about Garrison on question 5, when it was clearly out of the time period. Hopefully they at least acknowledge that i poured my heart into that essay.
Anyways:
MC- eh. Some hard, some easy.
DBQ- i think i did good on it. I mentioned the Doves, Hawks, Silent Majority, OPEC (I think i messed that one up), Vietnamization, and many more.
FRQ 2: I think i did good. Except it was kind of hard to come up for a thesis statement for this one.
FRQ 5: I think i did OK–not my best, not my worst.

I am praying for a 4!

@rd2012, they are quite similar. Same concepts and same way of asking

Manifest destiny was 1840s though. Mexican War.

Now that I’m done with the APUSH exam, would it be worth my time to take the US History Subject Test tomorrow? I used a fee waiver to sign up for two other subjects I’m testing on, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to take one more without a fee.

Stop compaining about simple mistakes on the FRQ lol. For the DBQ, I said Nixon suffered because of the Iran Contra affair. -.-.

the mexican war was like 1948. whew. cutting it close.
i’m aiming for a 5-6 on the dbq, international: vietnamization, peace with soviets and china, domestic: civil rights, watergate, stagflation.
but i didnt know much information about each and described things like stagflation in one sentence. do you think i’ll get a 6 or a 5 at least? i thought it would, but after looking at the mean scores for the essays i feel like they grade super hard. i never learned how to write dbqs.

Literally didn’t study that era so I pretty much winged it… Is this decent enough to get a 5/9 on the DBQ?

Nixon and the War, hypocritical because he said he’d take back troops and wanted peace but his actions proved otherwise. Repeated bombings,Cambodia, chemical warfare (“Agent Orange”)

Reception among Americans - Hypocrisy was noticed by many Americans, Hawks wanted war but Doves were against it. Hippies, rock music singers, Woodstock all created an anti-war sentiment among the younger generation, advocating peace, making demonstrations. Nixon did not connect with them and handled this badly - Kent state university, 4 kids dead.

Energy crisis - though he screwed up a lot he handled this relatively well, creating speed limits and limiting gas hours. This is at least to be commended.

Diplomat - talks with Russia and China, detente, good diplomat, opened talks with these countries.

Finally, Watergate. Watergate messed him over and outweighed the good aspects of his presidency.

CONCLUSION - Though he definitely did some good stuff such as talks with other countries and taking steps to stop the energy crisis, his bad stuff - hypocrisy over the War, not handling the anti-war culture well, and Watergate - proved to outweigh the good stuff.

Let’s change the best apush prep book to Larry Krieger’s US History in a Flash Direct Hits book. I am in disbelief about how friggin good that book was for today.

The oil embargo in 1973 was caused by ISRAEL.

I am Israeli and this was also the topic of my 10 page term paper for second semester- Cold war in the middle east.

In 1973 Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Jordan decided to attack Israel to regain land lost in the 1967 Six Day War. Obsessed with cold war mentality, Nixon and Kissinger did not want the Middle East to be completely Arab because the Egyptian and Syrian armies were completely trained and armed by the Soviets (there was actual Soviet presence in Egypt- about 1,000 soldiers.) Therefore, Kissinger and Nixon armed Israel to an infinite amount and told Israel to destroy the opposition, embarrass them in fact. They both wanted complete humiliation of Soviet-backed armies.

The oil embargo was caused by U.S. support of Israel.

I’m taking the AP US and World subject tests in June. Why not? If you’re good at the subject it can only help you.

Also guys it hasn’t been 48 hours yet.
