2011 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

@Biophysics

Yeah I did. I applied to Immunology at PIBs and got called yesterday letting me know I was accepted.

@Imm2010: Sorry to hear that. Did they do it through email or USPS?

@ImmunoNIH

Actually I saw someone on Gradcafe had posted in the results so decided to check mine as well. No notification, just website. No worries, I have narrowed my other offers down to two places :)

UCLA Access acceptance! First acceptance for me! So excited!

Congrats turkeylurkey! I was also accepted to ACCESS. :D

Nice! I really liked their interview weekend. Wouldn’t mind going there, but will see what happens with the rest of the schools.

so guys i need your advice on something, one my interviewer was put on academic probation for 5 years for falsification of data and he pleaded guilty but now there has been a dispute about whether they will let him keep is position at the U, so he sues the U. and specifically one person at the U. Now he is interviewing me soon for the PhD program.

Should i request someone else?

I want to be interviewed by someone whose opinion would matter a lot at the end?

Any suggestions guys?

thanks

Heyy,
Anyone planning on dropping off the list for UCSD interviews? I’m one of the people who is waitlisted, and aside from being a program I really want to go to, it’s also pretty much the only place left that I might be able to go to…
So ! If you’re in elsewhere and you don’t really care but you want to go to SD for a vacation…
Sorry for being whiney, I just really am getting worried that I won’t be able to get an interview :-/

@UCSD

Just curious biological sciences or BMS

@immuno2011: That sounds terrible, I’m not sure why they would allow him/her to interview students in the first place given his current predicament. It would be worth a shot to email the program coordinator to see if you can switch to a different interviewer, I think that’s what I would do.

@UCSDplease: That sucks, I hope you get a spot. Which program are you looking at ?Biological Sciences or BMS?

Accepted to Johns Hopkins MMI.

Decisions, decisions…

@Whalo and TurkeyLurkey,

I applied to the BMS program. Thanks, I hope so too!

Accepted into PhD in Biology with Bioinformatics track at Boston College. Got a letter in the mail today. They are offering tuition + TA/RA. I will be attending BU, though :)

UMichigan PiBS Human Genetics is sending out acceptances as well as Berkeley BCM and Hopkins BCMB.

@Antass
Congratulations!
Did you mention any particular PI or interests in your application?

Hi guys: advice please regarding interviews…previously when invited to be interviewed I was told names/titles, etc of interviewers. However, some invitations are not specific. Any thoughts on emailing program coordinator(s) to request names or asking if they release those names at some point? Opinions? Anyone else dealt with this?

@Antass
Man I will be rushing home to check the mail during lunch today!

@canbio: Is the interview date coming up? At one school I didn’t get the list until like 3 days before, and one school said that I will get the schedule on the day of the interview and that I won’t have to be familiar w/ the interview professors’ work.

Also, got an acceptance call from UCSD Biological Sciences yesterday!

anybody heard from harvard SEAS engineering sciences (bioengineering) yet?

Berkeley MCB acceptance via email last night!! Sooooooo excited, I loved it there. I thought I was going to have to wait longer to hear from them since I was just there this weekend. People were saying we might not hear until after the second recruitment weekend which is at the beginning of march.

Any one who interviewed for Columbia CMBS heard from them yet?
