^^ me too got a c in philo 1 -_-

I had no C’s but I did have two W’s and I still got accepted. I thought I’d just mention that since some people always seem to ask about the W thing :)

^ spoke to admissions officer on the phone today at UCLA, i asked her about W’s and if that has any affect on a persons chances…she said they don’t even look at W’s when it comes to decisions.

@MrD. how long did it take for your decision page to change after submitting your changes?

@MrD
I was accepted with 4 W’s into the Pre-Psych major. On top of that, I dropped another class this past semester and got yet another W. I submitted the change form on Monday, and already got back an email saying that dropping the class has not affected my admissions status. So, hopefully you’ll be fine, I was!

I was accepted too and I submitted the change form that i dropped a class on Monday as well. Did your decision page change at all? and when did they send you the email??

My decision page changed to the “reviewing your updates/changes” statement. The page changed today to the new notification. I really hope to hear back from them soon & that my admission isn’t rescinded. I haven’t gotten a good night’s rest since I informed UCLA of the “W” yesterday :(

I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine mrD

the UCLA people are some tricky bas-tar-ds. I called the Biochem department and they told me that admissions to the Biochem major was only impacted for those trying to gain admission to the school but once you’re in, it is no longer considered impacted and you can switch even with a 2.0 in your first quarter as long as they deem me able to finish all of my classes within the 216 units limit. tricky tricky…

That is lucky for me! :)

Thanks Pug,
I sure hope so. Did you get the email from them yet?

I actually emailed to the wrong address lol… I called them this afternoon, and they just told me to use the provisional form. So I’m in the same boat. I’m pretty sure the school is just concerned if you withdrew or dropped a prereq class. For me I’m dropping an upper division class that isn’t a prereq but is a major class (I’m a UC student)

@lildrkdragon91 and MrD
My decision page did change to “We received your recent communication regarding changes to your academic information and are currently reviewing your record. Upon completion, we will contact you to inform you of any status changes.” It still says that now too (I’m just not worried about it since I got the email back). I got the email at 8 am this morning.

how do i tell the UCs i dropped a class? whats the email for ucla? i cant find it?!! help plzz

Whats the number to call UCLA counselors or do you have to be enrolled first? I want to call the poly sci department because i have a specific question

@cherryvaseline
yes i am applying for 2012 FALL. IF i do end up getting that c, i will have 3.8 GPA. ill be TAP certified. i am just so worried… and what do u mean by i can get the grade up by fall? is fall grade going to count too when i am applying?? like ill insert my GPA that includes the FALL grade also when i apply???

^^^ oh and also, the class that i might or might that get a C is not a pre-req class. and my major GPA will be 4.0 though, does that matter compared to the overall GPA??

^ it definitely counts. so you have this summer and fall to bring your GPA up. in janurary 2012, the LA will request an update of your fall grades which they take into consideration.

YES, definitely apply for TAP…esp. if you’re applying to IDS. i really regret not doing that. if i had, i’m sure I would have gotten in. good luck, feel free to ask anything else if you need help.

I got two C
I got two W -> retake and I got two A
I got two F -> retake and I got two A

And accepted.

Total GPA: 3.75
Major: math/econ

@cherryvaseline
i am in TAP right now. so what is the exact difference between the major GPA and the overall GPA? which one is more important?? and btw, thanks cherryvaseline for following up on all of my questions.

i have a question! I am a transfer student and I have been accepted to UCLA. However, due to family troubles, I have not been able to attend class as much as I would like to have been attending. My professor may have dropped me from my English 1B class which is a pre req for transferring into UCLA. Will my acceptance be rescinded? What should I do? Are they generally understanding about severe situations/circumstances?
