I haven’t applied for any co-ops, just the on-campus housing. Are there usually a shortage of on-campus dorms or something?

Just submitted an appeal!

congratulation! for JebSpring1

lol mantou havent ate that in forever ahaha

I know I must be kind of annoying with the questions haha, but if my college doesn’t do a +/- grade system will UT still weigh it with a +/-? I go to lonestar and I just don’t se how they will know it I have a +/- in my letter grade. Thanks for the help! And good luck to you guys!

Josh, I’ve had this same thought and I don’t’ think they will. The GPA they look at is the cumulative one at the end of the transcript because if they wanted to look at transfer peoples’ grades from a +/- standpoint they would need all of the test scores and how much they weigh and this is just a single class.

Now imagine them recalculating everyone’s grade that didn’t use a +/- system. Most community colleges do not and I’m pretty sure a bulk of transfers started at a community college.

Now, what I wonder is if UT looks at the cumulative GPA of only TRANSFERABLE hours.

For instance, I have 39 total hours at my community college that nets a 3.82.

Only 34 out of those 39 are transferable and if you only accounted for the grade points of those 34 hours, it would net a slight north of a 3.9.

To my knowledge they don’t actually calculate anything. They simply look at the number on your transcript.

@Chadling Ah that makes sense, thanks!

they do calculate TRANSFERRABLE hours by using the letter grades on the transcript for ONLY courses that will transfer. For example my gap for my fall semester was a 3.62 but when i looked it on my status i had a 3.75. Going back to do the math i realized my B in freshman seminar did not transfer over. Obviously this can help or hurt some GPA’s

It’s only been one day since my status says “in review” and I’m already super impatient for a decision haha

@josh, man i don’t blame you lol, i’ve been the same way

@garcia, that is what i thought too

@lanvinboy, how are you so sure? I mean it wouldn’t be too difficult to calc a new GPA of ONLY transferable hours, since they have a GPA calculator, all you would do is just subtract two groups of numbers and plug and play

ACCEPTED!

Application went into review Wednesday and found out I got accepted into COLA Geography today!

lol dam… congrats ahaha

stats?

Local CC
GPA: 3.9
43 Hrs (15 AP credit + 28 this past school year)
Required essays
no recommendations
Multiple extracurriculars, however, I’ve heard admission is mainly based on GPA and essays

lol yeah same here, my friend in McCombs keeps stressing that to me.

I think they are accepting the 3.9s currently.

So is Texasgirl the first one to get a response who didn’t have 30 hours when they applied?

@garcia, perhaps she may be.

Her choice of major is also one that is not as impacted as business or engineering so the decision was an easy one for admissions

So, my school year has finally ended, and unfortunately I didn’t do as well as I expected with my remaining 18 hrs. I’d like to know what my chances are for admission to UT Austin, CNS majoring in biochemistry.

32 hrs completed.
GPA: 3.74

I had a 3.86 for the first semester, but I messed up with psychology and gen chem 2 this semster so it dropped to a 3.74 ughhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I know my gpa will start fresh once I get to UT and only credits will transfer, but this still irks me since I wanted to leave my school with at least a 3.8.
I am an in-state student and go to a UT system school.

@lelouchftw, I honestly would not worry if I were you, I had a 3.73 at the beginning of this year and worst case scenario I would have also ended with a 3.74 and I am pursuing biology.

So far the type of responses that I got are pretty much saying that CNS is not an impacted school, yet… So getting in is a different ball game than business or engineering
