2013/2014 Fall Transfer Thread

u cant check ur GPA on my status… you could only do it while the transfer scholarship app was open

Just thought I’d mention that I called up the admissions office and the nice lady told me that they are making final decisions In a week. So if you’re waiting, you don’t have too long of a wait.

Hopefully that’s true. I can’t wait much longer.

How hard of a workload did you guys take in order to transfer?

after two rejections from UT, I just got admitted!!! I applied for Petroleum Engineering as first major and Mechanical Engineering as second. I was admitted to my second major, can I switch to Petroleum Engineering internally? GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Hey I’ve been lurking for awhile now! My application has been in review now for two days, and I’m applying as a Comm PRe Public Relations Major. I’m so nervous about getting in!! Here are my credentials:

School: Texas state university
GPA: 3.84
First choice: School of Communications Pre Public Relations
Second: COLA History
3 letters of rec: one from a blinn college prof, a former UT law and business student who is now a mayor, and also a former business UT student who is a professional
2 essays, strong in my opinion
Lots of extra curriculars, plus I’m a Delta Gamma which is a sorority there at UT
Texas resident
Chances, and when can I hear back after two days??

I sent my final grades in as soon as I got home from my Associate graduation ceremony… Monday, it showed that they has received my new transcript, and yesterday I was accepted! I applied to Cockrell, only selected Chemical Engineering. They took ALL of my credits, even ones that other schools did not, like Band II.

-I think my essays were pretty good even though I didn’t spend a lot of time on them.
-NO RECOMMENDATIONS. I was stressed about this because I originally applied as a last minute whim and ended up falling in love with the school.

-Previous institution was an out of state community college.
-3.94 GPA, 4x President’s List
-Band, steel band, indoor percussion, and jazz band.
-Phi Theta Kappa member, chapter officer, and regional officer. Very involved.
-Have NOT taken physics. I was pretty worried about that.

-HS record sucked… Dropped out my freshman year, returned, graduated on time. Had a 3.4UW but my grades were really random. Things like an A in Trig and an F in Theatre. Barely any EC’s. I messed up. :frowning: Think I wrote about that in my application but it’s been a couple months…

So, there you have it. A silly high school dropout girl from an out of state community college made it into Cockrell with no recommendations and without physics. xD To future applicants… You’ll be alright. :)

CNS takesss foreverrr

Communications takes forever.

Definitely was not expecting to hear this soon after submitting my transcript! Got accepted into my first choice, Chemical Engineering!!!

3.72 GPA (with Bs in Cal 1 and Phys 1 :stuck_out_tongue: lol, As in Cal 2, Chem 1, Chem 2)
Wrote all 3 essays (I talked about the focus in Chemical Engineering I wanted to pursue; the optional essay, I talked about an online Calculus class I was taking on Coursera to make up for the B in Cal 1)
1 recommendation letter from my Chemistry professor
First semester: UTA, 2nd semester: DCCCD
Random extracurricular activities
In-state
Asian Indian

Feeling super happy right now! :D

Good luck to everyone!!!

Thanks, acceptme! Unfortunately, I got my rejection today. Not all that surprised, though. Congrats on your admission. I’mma try and sandbag my way to a 4.0 this year and maybe I’ll see you the 2014-2015 year at McCombs!

@kbp7794, congrats! when did you submit your transcript? my gpa is similar to yours and mine has been under review for like 4 days.

and how many hours did you have? thanks

How long does Communications take?

@txpetrstudent, Thanks! According to the my documents tab, UT got my transcript on the 21st, and I found out my decision today. I had…like 70-ish hours, but that was because I had lots of IB credit and did dual credit, but the only classes that were related to engineering were the ones I mentioned in my last post (Calc, Chem, Physics). Number of hours shouldn’t matter though as long as you have 30 hours or more. What were the two choices you put for your major?

So are there stages to the my status? mine says application complete and that is it. Will it switch to “In Review” when it gets closer to my decision or will it just auto change to the decision once it is made?

@kbp7794, 1st was petro 2nd was chem. not engr. i shouldve put another engr major, but i have my heart set on petro. im scared because i didnt take phys2, i took calc1 and 2, chem 1 and 2, as well as phys1. i applied with 33 hours and still waiting.

So I appealed two weeks ago, it was in review and I just found out that they approved my appeal and are requesting that I send spring grades in. Is this just ordinary procedure or do I actually have a chance?

My status went from Incomplete to Not Admitted. There was no In Review for me. Your applications are being in review though because I believe their deadlines to make decisions are cutting near.

Anyways, I appealed my admission since they saw 29 credits (not including my 7 AP credits). Anyone not admitted with about 30 hours should double check that all your credits are shown, especially if it was an electronic transcript. Apparently those have a habit of cutting off credits.

@Dpayan7 Looks like the real deal. Seems like you do have a chance. I would call them up before the weekend for sure.
