2013/2014 Fall Transfer Thread

dpayan,

that is definitely not normal from them to do. usually the appeal is rejected and you are sent on your way. best of luck to you!

@Propayne7 @Hughstan

I’m so excited/nervous now!!
thanks guys!

So i just called admissions and the woman that I spoke to told me that she wants me to touch base with the people that will be reviewing my transcripts so she gave me their number and told me to call on tuesday. I’m praying for this!

Mine has been “in review” for a little over a week now for CNS. I believe that it is because I haven’t taken calculus yet. I got a 3.82 cumulative, but 3.91 “transferable only” GPA.

Hope to get a decision this upcoming monday.

Got my acceptance last night! Transferred from Texas State University into COLA for Anthropology with a 3.69, 3 solid essays, 2 recommendation letters of I’m not sure what quality, and no club activity… but some volunteer services from high school were noted on my resume.

Good luck everyone, and congratulations to everyone getting their acceptances n__n

Congrats dpayan! Judging from the fact you had professional work on a national music video I thought your situation would be different from other appeals.

@Jpgarcia Thanks man. I hope I get in!

For the people accepted/rejected, how many hours did you guys have?

at least 30

36 I think

How long do you guys think it will take for UT to update mystatus with my new transcript? I ordered it on tuesday, and it was sent last wed. I’m thinking it only takes 2 days for it to go from Dallas to Austin, so I would imagine that UT has it by now, but they haven’t updated mystatus with it which is putting me a little on edge since I need to get a decision asap.

@lelouch I think they got it. I sent in a transcript electronically from Nacogdoches (its in east Texas) on the 17th (friday) and they received it on the 20th (Monday). Since this Mondays a holiday maybe call them up on Tuesday? Just to be sure y’know, because maybe something went wrong. Did you send it through 1st class mail or electronically?

@hughstan I sent it through first class

30 hours is clearly obvious. Everyone here seems to have more…
That’s what I’m asking about

I don’t think it matters how many hours as long as it’s at least 30.

@lelouchftw, i think your status should be updated by the end of Tuesday. Pretty much no progress is made in regards to admission during the weekend.

If I take a course over the summer at a CC and it transfer to the college I’m attending, when I try transfer into UT, will UT factor the grade into my gpa?

@Korsgaard I hear UT doesn’t factor grades at other institutions into GPA, so I think no.

I didn’t mean my UT gpa. I mean’t when you try to transfer will they put a summer class at a cc into ur transfer gpa

Yes. However if your application is already in review then it won’t matter since they won’t see it.

Ok so let me get a bit more clarification.
I take a summer course in July at a community college.
I then take 5 courses in the fall at U of H.
I apply for a transfer for Spring 2014
When I apply, those 6 courses will determine my transfer gpa?

Ignore the 30 credit hour requirement for this purpose

Oh, yeah they’ll factor all your grades that you have into your transfer GPA, however, since the Spring transfer application deadline is in the middle of the Fall semester, those 5 courses from the Fall won’t be factored (grades for the fall get posted usually in December). But your summer course would be.
