2013/2014 Fall Transfer Thread

Ugh :frowning: I’m asking this cause I’m trying to transfer after 1 semester of college

Unless you’ve taken enough AP credits, then I don’t know. :frowning: In college, try taking AP exams? I did this with Spanish and exempted from the first level 4-credit course in the beginning of the semester. Perhaps your college has AP exams for other courses. Personally, I would suggest it and the tests could be free.

Yeah, I have. I’ll have anywhere ranging from 15-28 hours. I just wanted to know if taking a course over summer for a CC would factor into my transfer gpa with my other courses from U of H

Your transfer GPA is calculated off of all college courses you’ve taken, either as high school AP credits and any accredited junior or senior college, or any combination of these. If you will not have 30 credit hours by the time you would be enrolling in the semester you’re applying for, you will be considered a freshman applicant and in the same competitive pool with other high school seniors.

Wait, how do they factor in your AP into GPA lol?

I dunno. I never transferred any in.

Personally, the AP credits I have don’t get factored into my GPA. I believe most colleges are the same.

They don’t factor AP into gpa, it’s just the credits that transfer.

Hey Everybody!

I wish everybody a good luck and that you guys get to transfer to UT Austin because it really is an amazing school!

I am a senior in high school and I will be starting college in the fall and even though I am not tranferring to Austin yet, I will be in a couple of months and this is why I am here cause I need someone to help me with some questions.

In high school I had a 3.75 GPA 1920 on my SAT and 113 on my TOEFL. I actually had gotten accepted to UT Austin but I could not attend due to some financial problems (I am an international student and its super expensive)

I was wondering if there a better chance of getting in if you were already accepted.

This fall I will be starting in the University of South Florida, even though it is a regular school, I was wondering if there was a chance of transfering from an average school to UT Austin?

Some other questions I have are:

What GPA should I get in college in order to have a high chance of getting accepted when transferring?

Can I transfer after 1 semester in college or do I have to complete one entire year?

I hope somebody can help me because I really want to be a longhorn!

Hi Molin. Yes there is a chance. When you try to transfer, have a 3.6 or above. Yes you can transfer after 1 semester of college as long as you have 30 credit hours

Actually, since molinpau000’s an international student, he needs to have close to 4.0 GPA. It’s extremely difficult to get into UT as a international transfer student. In-state and to some extent out-of-state students have it way easier. You need to have 30 hours done by the time you finish your first semester, so you might need to take some summer classes, unless you have some AP/IB credit. Since you’re an international student, you must keep your GPA as close to a 4.0 as possible. What program are you trying to get into anyway?

Sweet! I’m happy a summer school course is factored into my gpa :D. It can also be a gpa booster

My status says it Is “incomplete” since Thursday but it also says the received my final transcript does anybody else have the same problem?

does anyone know when we should expect to hear from ut for spring review? i applied for engr

So, UT finally received my transcript today, but it’s still saying incomplete on mystatus… are they just verifying that I have 30+ hrs before updating the status? Or, should I call to check with them?

It did that for me for about a day or two. Just wait about 24 hours. If it doesn’t show up by then contact them. I don’t believe it matters much anyway as they only have to receive the transcripts by the deadline.

So, how much does not having recommendations hurt your chances?
I am applying as a rising sophomore with a 3.74 majoring in biochemistry to CNS. My essays were pretty good, lots of ECs, and I’m an in-state student transferring from UT Dallas.

Hey everyone. My application has been in review for a whole week today for School of Communications. I’m so nervous to check it, but was wondering if anyone had heard back yet that sent in their final grades at the end of this semester?

I’m transferring from Tx State with a 3.84 and am in Pre Public Relations for first choice, and History/COLA second.

Thanks and Good luck!

I sent my final transcript on May 7 and it arrived May 9. I have a 3.92 GPA with 39 credits… I still have not gotten my decision for either of my CNS choices. I called today and the admissions office told me that they would probably not be done with transfer admissions until mid-June. If this is true, I think I will just have to transfer to U of H because I cannot afford to risk losing my reservation, scholarships, and awards.

yeah i haven’t gotten a response back from CNS as well.

@victor, maybe just wait it out, i got accepted into UH as well, but i heard that their natural science program is not that great and that the labs are lacking in materials, and only their business school is tier 1
