Yeah, but the thing that frustrates me is how little time this gives me to prepare - specially since I work full time and am taking part time summer courses. I would still need to find an apartment because all the dorms would be filled. Then, I would have to go through that painful financial aid verification process because I am an independent student under the age 24 (veteran). That means that I would not know what my financial aid package would be until a few DAYS before class starts. All this just to get left-over courses and expensive housing and pay everything out of pocket before receiving my reimbursement weeks later.

This is really depressing me. Does anyone know if you can postpone a transfer until the next semester?

@victorgnzlz, I have never heard of a postponed transfer. They give you until a certain date to enroll at the school, like August or late July. I know it is sudden, but with the overflow of transcripts, I believe they’re doing the best that they can.

victor,

why would you want to live in the dorms if you are over the age of 21? You are also a veteran? To hell with that noise man, you’ll be able to find a place to stay, so don’t stress about it too much.

Have you spoken with Student Veterans’ Services? I work in that office, so look us up and give us a call if you need something. We can point you in the right directions if need be.

The first semester for me was rough (I’m a veteran as well), but it got REALLY smooth after that.

yeah i know its a rush to get settled if accepted, but that’s just the transition stage

although i only work part time and i’m not taking summer school this year, i am also feeling the stress about finding a place to live and being able to get a decent selection of classes, thing is, if i even do get accepted, but can’t afford a place to live, i’ll be even more late for class selection at UH

Did anyone else appeal?

@dpayan7 I appealed. I hope they could at least look at my application, considering it was a mistake on the school’s part. How’s your appeal coming along?

Hughstan: how long ago did you submit it? Has it gotten accepted? My appeal just recently got accepted and I’m wondering what the process is like from here

Augh. Just called admissions. Admissions is looking at my application right now but it won’t be until June when I find out. I’m getting so sick of waiting. I don’t know how much longer I can wait.

jpgarcia, I’m applying for Comm too, and I actually have some good/bad news. Yes, official comm majors will be accepted in June, but if denied, you can find out even sooner if you were accepted into your second choice.

My friend who is also transferring with me into Comm had a friend who got denied from Communications ALREADY, but got accepted into COLA. Keep checking your status, but don’t lose hope! Most denied Comm majors with great qualifications most likely get their second choice in COLA!! :D

My second choice was UGS. It’s the same as COLA in terms of getting in right?

Also my summer class is ending this week. I’m pretty sure I will get an A which would bring up my transfer gpa a little bit. If I send in a transcript with my summer credit will the gpa admissions looks at change? Or will it still be the same?

First of all, I believe UGS is way more competitive than COLA. I’m not even sure any transfers to date have even been accepted into UGS. Most incoming freshmen are granted priority UGS spots I hear before transfers, so I believe it is more competitive.

Second, UT will only consider your latest grades and transcripts. My brother’s friend transferred from UTSA into College of Natural Sciences, and got in first. Her summer grades were poor and did not affect her acceptance to the university, so I feel as if those summer grades will not affect your gpa for the “decision making.” Even if you’re finishing up now, I doubt that they will accept it because it is too late after the deadline to send anything else in. So, they won’t matter unfortunately.

I know for a fact that UGS has had plenty of transfers. I just don’t know if UGS is easier or not.

Well in that case, I guess UGS is kind of easy. I just know for a fact COLA accepts almost half of applicants, while UGS is given to freshmen more likely.

UGS isn’t competitive to get into at all. You can only stay in UGS until you have 60 credit hours, and they don’t offer a degree program. It’s also a restrictive school, no dual enrollment, etc.

In my opinion, UGS is where they put people that didn’t really have spectacular resumes compared to their peers.

yea i’m changing my second major choice to liberal arts since the average admission GPA’s are about the same but COLA admits almost half the applicants and it admits more in general. You can still take take just about any science major course and not be at a disadvantage at registration.

So I haven’t posted anything for a good while since a month or two ago when I told everyone I got denied. I too will be submitting an appeal. They already recieved my updated transcripts. When I first applied I had a 3.3 gpa from my university and UT calculated it at a 3.19. My current gpa at my university is a 3.588.

^^^ Good luck buddy! What major did you apply under?

34 Credit hours with my spring semester grades in. Shows its in review. I have 3.44 GPA going into government major as my first choice and history as my 2nd. Hopefully i’ll get in…
Any positive feedback from similar situations??

^ OH i forgot I’m transferring from Austin Community College! My essays are okay, but i’m confident in my resume (work experience specifically).

@dpayan7 I applied for CNS - physics first choice and COLA - environmental science second choice. What’s your situation?
