is there a way to check our gpa to make sure its correct?

I asked this earlier on the thread and apparently there isn’t.

@mathguy1000: I applied to RTF, advertising as my second choice. I got rejected (pretty sure because my GPA is below average for the college of communications and I’m an oos student)
I appealed three weeks ago and my appeal got approved this past Friday. But I guess an approved appeal doesn’t mean admission. They’re asking for me to submit my spring grades but they won’t be available for another two to three weeks

My son has gotten some bad information, I’m quite sure. He’s in a Texas community college right now. He is an out of state student.

He says as long as he has B’s in his classes, he will have an EASY time getting accepted to U.T.Austin in engineering.

This doesn’t sound right to me. U.T.A. is one of the most competitive universities in Texas, and plenty of students want to attend. I would think he would have to have all A’s in order to have a shot at admission as a transfer student.

Also, I think he has to take a specific sequence of courses in his 2 years at his community college in order to be competitive for admission. I’m not sure he has done this.

I thought I would come to this thread to hear the truth. Anyone care to comment?

B’s in all of his classes? That’s a 3.0 which is well below the average admitted GPA for the university

Yeah, I agree that your son would have a hard time getting accepted. Straight A students sometimes don’t get accepted, pulling off all B’s and getting accepted is something almost unheard of.

I’m not familiar with the engineering program. You might have seen these, but these look helpful for engineering transfers.

@dpayan7 what was your gpa? What did you write about on your appeal?

Why until 2 or 3 weeks? Your spring semester is not over yet? You have to get them in asap you only have a certain amount of time to submit them after you appeal!

Yeah Cockrell is really hard to get in. Making all B’s doesn’t seem very likely to get him in.

Mathguy1000: I had a 3.44 it should go up once I submit my spring transcripts. I’m still currently in my spring semester, finals are next week. I don’t have a deadline to submit them. They are separate from my appeal. My appeal got approved but now in the transfer application tab it’s asking me for spring transcripts.
In my appeal I wrote about my work experience working on the latest thirty seconds to mars music video. I think they originally overlooked that not knowing that the music video was released worldwide. They probably didn’t know that the band is world famous? Idk but I’m super grateful that the appeal got approved

Gahhhh UT still hasn’t changed my app status, and it’s been almost two days now since they got my transcript… I just want it to go into review and get a decision already :(

I just got into McCombs and I’m trying to take summer science classes. Does anyone know if they require one with a lab component? Thanks

Unless you are double majoring in Natural Sciences or trying for Pre-Med, you don’t have to take science courses with a lab. You can take general sciences courses geared towards nonsci majors.

Gambino, what was ur gpa if you don’t mind me asking?

Does anybody know how long it takes to know if you get into undergraduate studies? My application has been on review for 4 days

Propayne: oh okay thanks buddy
Korsgaard: mine was a 3.84 but i got As or AP credits for all my business/indicator courses. Best of luck to you

@Joelg23 My application has been in review since the 15th of May. Still no word. Of course I am applying to RTF as my first choice. I was reading last years transfer thread and apparently, if you are considered competitive, they throw your application into a pool and wait until after the deadline (which was June 15th last year instead of June 1st) to make a decision. I believe they are waiting for everybody else to send in their transcripts before they fill up spots. I’ve heard sometime in June and a within a month after you send in your second transcript to get a decision.

Hopefully that’s the case. My transcript was received on Tuesday but my app still says incomplete. Hopefully it will be complete next week.

Lol guys there’s really no timeline at all, my App has been in review for CNS-Bio since Feb 19th since i had the 30hr Requirement then and as you know CNS has no required indicator courses. My status got my spring grades on the 20th of May and still nothinggg

Hey, does every applicant have to submit his or her spring transcripts? Anyone here who got in without submitting the spring transcripts?

We have to because at the time of the March 1st deadline we were still in the process of getting 30 hours. There are already people who had 30 hours already who have been accepted.
