Stats: 3.0 ACC gpa ( all high school dual credit)
fall transcript 3.75 (transferrable only) A’s in all science courses
Spring transcript 3.7 GPA
Solid Essay’s(wrote all 3 ) and resume

Congrats Lanvin. I’m still mad that my app is incomplete when it’s been a week since I turned in my final transcript -.- Btw, @lanvin did you submit recommendations or not? I’m worried as to how much weight they hold in transfer admissions since I didn’t turn mine in…

Come wait in line lelouchFTW. Some of us have been waiting three weeks now haha.

i submitted my app in Feb with 30hrs then so it had been in review for months & I submitted nooo letters of Recommendation… also UT had my GPA around a 3.46ish (could be higher or lower very slightly).

Hey guys, my status finally changed to “complete/on time” today from “incomplete” because I had to send in a final transcript from North Texas showing my completion of 30 hours. Can someone chance me, please?

School: COLA (Psychology, BA)

Cumulative GPA: 3.8 (4.0 first semester, 3.6 second semester; will this drop hurt me?)

Resume: pretty strong; fair amount of extracurriculars, lot of fraternity involvement, undergrad research assistant, retail work experience, awards for cello in high school, orchestra librarian and section leader, club president in high school, helped plan a charity event with my fraternity pledge class, member of NHS and Mu Alpha Theta in high school, member of Alpha Lambda Delta (academic college honor society)

Recommendations: three; two from high school teachers and one from a professor at North Texas

Essays: wrote two, both were heavily edited and peer-reviewed by many people before I sent them in

I’m seriously hoping the .4 drop in my GPA (I got two B’s the second semester) doesn’t hurt my chances. It’s still at a 3.8, so it shouldn’t be too bad, right?

@TransferHorn You have a very good chance of being admitted. Accepted transfer applicants in COLA for spring 2011 had an average GPA of 3.58, so you are well above that. GPA is arguably the biggest factor in the admission for transfer, I hear. And although your grade dropped, I still believe you have a very high chance. I agree that your resume looks very strong. As well, it is always good to have some recommendations. Here’s the page where I found the GPA stats for COLA: [Transfer Times - Spring 2011 | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/counselors/jcc/transfer-times/spring2011)

Yayyyyyyy app was complete this morning and now I just checked and it’s in review. Hopefully I’ll receive an acceptance here in the next few days!

Any other CAP students still have their application in review for over two weeks?

@Hughstan: thanks so much for chancing me! I’ll definitely post the decision.

Hey everyone, so I got my decision on my appeal and my appeal got denied :(It looks like I’m not going to Austin this upcoming fall.

@cpq1xtbu Yeah I’m still waiting too, however my application did change today, it added my transfer scholarship application. But the fact that I haven’t heard about an acceptance yet is putting me on edge…

I’m really sorry to hear that mathguy1000
Do you have plans for next Spring maybe? Also sorry to ask but how long did it take for “Appeal docs” to show up on your “my document” page?

Hey guys, I had another question and it regards dual credit earned in high school: does it affect your GPA when applying as a transfer student? Because my current UNT GPA is a 3.8, but with a 2.43 from two ACC classes, that drops my GPA to around a 3.58. Are they going to consider THAT my GPA, or the GPA earned from my work done while actually in college at UNT?

This page ([Transfer Credits | School of Undergraduate Studies](<a href=“Academic Advising | TEXAS Undergraduate Studies”>Academic Advising | TEXAS Undergraduate Studies)) seems to suggest that it’s not affected by dual credit, but people on here have said differently, so I’m confused.

From what I have heard, admissions does consider your dual enrollment courses as part of your overall GPA. However, 3.5+ GPA might get you in depending on what major you are applying for (just don’t expect to get into engineering or business).

Yeah, I called them and they confirmed that. I was a bit nervous before, but now I’m pretty concerned that I have to rely more on my resume and letters of rec than I thought. My GPA in my major is a 4.0 still, so hopefully that’ll help. Hope COLA accepts me. :(

@mathguy1000: I know this sounds cliche but I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. One day you’re going to look back and tell yourself “thank god I didn’t end up going to UT because then this and this would’ve never happened”. Good luck on all of your future endeavors buddy

^I agree. My daughter had her heart set on a specific college last year. She didn’t get in and ended up at a different school. Now she can’t imagine going anywhere else, even the so called dream school of the year before. She is extremely happy where she is and says it was meant to be. Lots of good things have happened for her since.

Hopefully everyone can feel the same way where ever they end up!
