@Transferhorn A 3.5 is still really good for COLA. Some people on this board have already been accepted into COLA with 3.4s.

I know this may be unorthodox, but being from Houston I did get accepted into the University of Houston, but I haven’t completed the enrollment process. I think what I’m going to do if I don’t get accepted into UT CNS is that I’m just going to continue at the Houston Community College, but only take precalc and calc 1 during the fall and maybe some misc courses.

I have a 3.82, but I haven’t been accepted nor denied and my application has been under review for around 3 weeks now. I think the only thing that has kept me from being accepted is the fact that I have not had calculus yet.

Hughstan: actually, I sent in my updated transcripts before I submitted my appeal. So when I submitted my appeal my transcripts were already there. Thank you, yes I will be applying for the spring semester, but I don’t know what to do in the meantime. Should I transfer to the next best university and try to transfer to UT from there, or stay at my local university and attempt to transfer again in the fall? I don’t know what to do.

dapayan: yeah that totally does make sense, I believe that things do happen for a reason as well. However, I will try again next semester. Good luck to you on your admissions with UT and whatever may come your way! Thank you for your insight. I’m glad I got to share this journey with so many bright individuals!

ACC GPA is factored into your GPA but does not weigh heavily as long as they were in high school and u demonstrate a good gpa at your first real year of college. I got in Monday with an overall 3.46 gpa to CNS without taking Calc 1 but i did take pre cal.

@lanvinboy how long was your app in review for?

it had been in review since Feb. but surprisingly after i changed my second choice major to COLA undeclared from UGS on thursday…i was accepted Monday. Idk if this had an effect tho since i got in to my first choice of CNS Bio.

Chadling: I also have around a 3.8 and I’ve taken calculus and I haven’t heard from CNS either. It looks like they haven’t accepted anyone yet who didn’t already have 30 hours before the semester ended.

@mathguy1000: hopefully things work out for the both of us and we end up being longhorns by spring time!!!

HEY just wanted to know how many credits you had, and basically you weren’t accepted because of the credits right?

Just got off of the phone, and the admissions rep for communications said she had never seen a decision making this slow for a school before. She estimated an official decision being made between mid-June to the END of June. No news is good news she said because the applications are all in as of now, and the pool of applicants are really competitive.

I really hope my 3.8 & credentials stand out amongst the rest…

im still in review for engr, so that means i pretty much got denied.

That’s not good at all. I still have to apply to UTD if I get denied and I have my coop application to worry about. Just my luck that my year would be the year to take longer. I really hope my essays are what get me in some my GPA isn’t as high as I’d like it to be. Even if I just get into UGS I’d be fine.

Also being in review doesn’t mean you got denied. Getting denied means you got denied. Plenty of people are still waiting.

Does approval for an admission appeal mean that they’ll finally look into my application for reconsideration? Here I thought they’ve been doing that for the past week.

Just to try and calm some people down, I was accepted back in April with a 3.5 GPA into Public Relations in the Communication School. I had 3 letters of recommendations, and also had completed over 42 hours and I am only a freshman.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask me!

@dcars93, i think i’m just getting impatient since their decision is going to dictate alot of my actions for the rest of the year

Yeah same here. I really need to know if I am going to get denied to UT or not so I can get my stuff together for UTD already.

Also curlyfreak12 what was your GPA?

Hughstan: was your admission appeal approved?

Hey curlyfreak,

I’m still in review obviously and I’m applying to your same exact major. I have a 3.84 from Texas State, 3 letters of rec (one from a Blinn College professor, a former Business grad from UT, and another business grad/law grad from UT who is also now a mayor), and I am in Delta Gamma sorority. I completed a lot of volunteer activities in college so far as a freshman, and will be a sophomore. Lastly, I sent in my high school transcripts with a GPA of 3.9/4.0. I participated in a lot of clubs and volunteered. My UT essays were pretty strong in my opinion.

Would you think I have a pretty good shot? I’m getting so anxious!!

Admitted on Monday!
I was seriously getting so nervous.

Admitted to second choice- US
GPA: 3.8 (4.0 the last 3 semesters)
Transferring from a CC w/ around 50 credits
Many extracurricular activities and volunteer work
No recommendation letters
Phi Theta Kappa
3 strong essays

Best of luck to those still waiting!

@dpayan7 Yup! Now I wait some more. UT initially denied me because they incorrectly saw 29 credits instead of 36 credits, so it was all just a dumb error. Submitted on the 23rd, and my updated transcript didn’t get to them till the 28th. I really have no idea what the process is like so here I am. I also understand that you’ve highlighted some pretty amazing things to them, so good luck. :)
