I got an email saying I advanced, does anyone know what level that’s at, out of how many levels?

Also does anyone know if the Elks scholarships can be used for study abroad?

Im pretty sure the email about advancing refers to lodge → district. Received a letter in the mail today about advancing further from district to state but no mention of lodge or district scholarship!

I didn’t advance but did get a $1000 scholarship from the lodge!! So happy!!

what states are represented here?

Michigan… anyone else applying in Michigan?

If you check the Twitter account (ElksScholars is the username) it states that it is advancing districts.

What I’m (finally) figuring out based on this thread and the ElksScholars tweets is that the lodges/districts/states have deadlines to turn in the information to the National Elks Foundation for each step. The National Elks Foundation will communicate with each applicant at each step. As long as the state meets those deadlines they can have independent processes and notifications. I think that’s why some people have already heard they are moving to the state level (from their state) and others have not. According to the ElksSholars tweet, the next time applicants will be notified from the National Elks Foundation will be “early February”…not to say some won’t hear from their state (or district or local lodge) before then.

What a cool process to watch unfold…

I got an email the other day saying I advanced to the next level… Does that mean local to district? And how many students are chosen at the local level?

I advanced, I am excited to find out if I advanced any further.

My daughter just received an email that she didn’t move past the district level. I hope there is a local award because that application was time consuming!

@Tryingherbest- was the email from the national office similar to the one that was sent out saying that she advanced past the local?

The email was from our local district.

My D made it to district level- in Cali- no word yet if we made to state level.

Enjoying the updates. So I don’t have to ask each time, please let us know if your notification came from the national office like the previous notification or from your local/district/state offices.

Thanks!

agreed; knowing which state you’re in, and who contacted you helps a lot! Thank you to all who are posting…also agreed that this process was time-consuming on the kids. (but now I am hoping my daughter gets good feedback)…regardless, I’ll let the rest of you know if we hear something soon! :-))

I did some research and found out that MN has 26 lodges and 4 districts. Also, I saw a tweet from ElksScholars saying there are over 20,000 applicants nationwide. That’s a lot of competition! Looking forward to hearing something the beginning of February.

There might have been 20,000 applicants, but that is better odds than Coca Cola that had 100,000. Plus, I am counting on some of those 20,000 applicants not turning in complete applications. It was VERY time consuming if done right and a lot of students won’t take the time to do it right. At least that is what I am hoping.

I put a lot of time into mine, but didn’t include any exhibits because I wasn’t sure what to put… I hope the judges don’t interpret this as laziness/apathy.

@tryingherbest- if I may ask what ranking is your daughter in her senior class?
