Well GREAT NEWS EVERYONE! Looks like luck was in our favor.
An email was just sent today to the admissions office at UCSD saying that if students fell below their TAG contract GPA but still maintained a regular admissions contract of 3.0 GPA overall and 2.0 GPA in spring semester, you would NOT be cancelled. I can verify this from two different admissions reps. Also, and this should go without saying, but you’re transcripts also have to match what you said you did on your application. Transcript verification + regular student contract upheld = UCSD admission maintained. Congrats everyone! :)

@Marmaneous how about the others who is not in the TAG contract?

Does anyone know how to check whether UCSD has received our official transcripts yet?

Send an email to admissions through your portal. They’ll get back to you in a couple days.

HAHA, UCSD barely sent me an admission packet with a Triton day pass! Only about one month too late!

Same, just got it too

I thought the Triton Day pass was really funny since it was dated 5/10/14

Well, I just requested an igetc certification for UCSD.

Not going to UCLA anymore, @CollegeDropout1?

@Cayton That was just in case I changed my mind

Does anybody know if there is anyway to get around orientation? It is mandatory, but I don’t want want to go because it 80$, and I have no one to drive to San Diego.

You need to get your ■■■■ together and just do it. Take a greyhound bus if you have to.

@Calbro Well, it looks like I am going to go. I have no option, UCSD charges your account either way.

Has anybody else got there transcripts validated? Mine went from “will verify by mid-august” to “requirement met”.

@dotina I haven’t, but I think it is because I waited until the last minute to turn in my transcripts.

Hey guys, I’m going to be applying for Fall 2015. Was wondering how big of a factor it is if you’re missing 2 major pre-reqs. I’m sitting at a 4.0 currently, but I wont have Math 20C or Math 20F completed for CS major (my school has 4 quarters of calculus that I need to complete instead of 3, so Math 20C = 2 classes at my CCC which is why I won’t make it). I could actually take that fourth quarter calculus class, but I would have to skip taking discrete math which would limit my options elsewhere. Any general advice? I feel like I’m in a bad spot…

Thank you so much.

@HappyLifeMachine Pre-reqs are everything. The school of engineering won’t review your application unless you have every pre-req completed, assuming it is offered at your CC.

@CollegeDropout1 I see, that’s a let down then. The articulation agreement states for some reason that we are only advised to complete, not that they are required. If only I had more time I could complete those two math courses…

Edit - I see now, apparently all major pre-reqs are required for impacted majors, and since CS is on that list, I won’t make it. Very disappointed!

@HappylifeMachine Unfortunately, this was the last transfer application cycle that CS was NOT an impacted major. Before the impacted status, UCSD didn’t care about pre-reqs. You could have gotten in even if you have not taken a single calculus or programming class, but that has changed.

You said that Math 20C, otherwise know as Multivariable calculus, was split into two parts at your community college. However, are you sure that you can’t take Linear algebra with your mulitvarible calculus classes. Most community college don’r require Cal 3 as a prerequisite for Linear algebra. In fact, you don’t need mulitvarible calculus to take linear algebra. Check to see if Cal 3 is a prerequisite for linear algebra at you community college. If you really want to go to SD, you could also take linear algebra at another community college that does require Cal 3 as a pre-req. If discrete math is offered at your community college, then you also need to take that class, or else SD will automatically reject you.

Anyway, if you still cannot fulfill every single pre-req, then you could also try applying as a computer science/math major at SD. Just make sure that you can handle upper division math. The computer science/math option is not impacted, so with your GPA, you’re almost guarantied to get in.

@happylifemachine, on the other thread there are ppl saying they got in without their completing all the req. If they aren’t articulated just forge ahead. I also read that ppl without req completed may be accepted as pre-major or undeclared and you finish them at UCSD and petition into the major then. This is what they do with engineering and other impacted majors at UCSD (assuming they want you). Don’t get down about this.

Send an email to UCSD and ask.
