2014 SCEA hopefuls?

Wow. I just realized the 15th is the week before Christmas break. I was always under the subconscious impression that the 15th was very, very close but NOOOOOOO!!! And a TUESDAY? What? That’s like a big-name movie coming out on Thursday rather than Friday. It just shouldn’t happen.

@moosemaster- I posted the video of what the acceptance page looks like. enjoy :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/801884-video-acceptance-page-class-2013-a.html

all I want is my decision in one word in humongous lettering on the top of the screen.

I don’t want to read anything like…“Thank you for your interest in Yale. [etcetcetc]” 10 sentences later…a vague sentence about the decision.

in my case, if i don’t get the video, i’ll probably be too catatonic to notice!

oh yeah, the video would be amazinggg.
But for deferred/rejected…that’s a different story lol.

What if the music played even if they got rejected lol

Stupefy, thank you for giving me a taste of fake success :D

@cadillac
oh man that would be so cruel

If I don’t get accepted, I will be upset, but then I will realize that I’ll have to actually finish my 17 million billion other college applications, and then I will be uber sadface.

Oh, yeah, and my ego goes down the drain. Never had much of one to begin with so, with a rejection, I will be part of the unfortunate few with negative self-confidence (yes it is possible).

In the meantime, I can ease my anxiety via a combo of CC, facebook, and beer. Actually, forget the beer. Being far east asian, my tolerance is probably also in the negative zone. I’m such a negative person lol.

about the facebook group, is it still alive and well or has the limelight shifted back to CC?

It’s still alive and well.

you’re welcome :)

Why oh why do I not live in Hawaii? That makes at least three of us Pennsylvanians (Stupefy, moosemaster, and moi) and I’m pretty sure there were at least one or two other highly qualified SCEA applicants on CC from PA as well. Oh, and we’re all Asian, surprise surprise. :P

Xaari-I’m from PA as well, but I’m not Asian, I’m Native American…so Idk if i would affect your chances???
but i’m nowhere near as qualified as you guys

Puck Fennsylvania

jk, I love the place. Just too cold.

And rocket6Louise, you are lucky to be Native American. You are an underrepresented
underrepresented minority to the third power. 700+ SAT scores and a few leadership positions in EC’s that you demonstrate passion in should land you in a very nice light in the eyes of the admissions officer. However, as always, nothing is guaranteed :(.

moosemaster-I’m hoping my 4.0, 34 ACT,ECs,1000 volunteer hours and being 3rd/438 should do the trick for this URM…but you never know

help
I sent my Nov SAT score on Nov 24 by regular option. They are still not showing up on my eli account. When I called collegeboard today they said my scores will arrive by Nov 8(1 to 2 weeks from Nov 24). They also said that there is no meaing in sending the scores by rush option now because they arrive at the same time. And Yale may not accept scores sent by rush option. Is anyone in the same boat?

goodluck1–I posted something on the other thread about it! Go read it! I think it’ll help  SO at least they can start reviewing your app! GOODLUCKGOODLUCKGOODLUCK I hope it all works out!!! And yeah, don’t rush your scores. They’ll arrive at the same time probably and be in a different format that Yale doesn’t like or something.

did you send them on november 24 or october 24? big difference.

rocket6louise…

WHY DO YOU WORRY???
your academics are amazing–near perfect ACT score, and also a top class rank in a very large high school. You didn’t elaborate on your EC’s so I can’t judge you on those but the amount of volunteer hours you have clearly show a dedication and passion. I know, I know, being on CC has a really great effect of making standards skyrocket but I’m honestly starting to question whether kids on CC get deferred/waitlisted because they are not enough or because they are TOO GOOD. Matriculation rates at colleges are huge competition and if a kid seems like a harvard/princeton/“better school” candidate, then that kid may very well be deferred/waitlisted. Let’s face it, the majority of kids who get accepted into the Ivies DON’T post on CC. Thus, CC is no accurate representation of the acceptee population and adopting the standards established on CC may be, well, inaccurate.
