i would have applied ED to yale if i could have. aid or no.

all of the ivies are pretty much politically liberal
but I do hear that brown is really slack on academics.

Well there are other schools from which I’m waiting to hear back about merit scholarships, so…

tres elefantes: i completely agree. the EA status doesnt show commitment to the school, it just allows students at the top to have an early chance at admittance. yet, if there was an early decision program, i am sure a considerably smaller number of students would have applied.

now im preparing myself for one of three decisions… how many people typically get accepted after deferral? Should I get my hopes up if I do get deferred?

^me too. merit scholarship applications are a pain.

@eaten: totally. and i think only like <10% of the deferrals get accepted. there was an interesting post i’ll have to find about where the yale EA deferrals from CC went, and even those ultimately rejected from yale attended some pretty top-notch schools. still, though, it’s hard when you have your heart set on one school :(

amen. same here
-high fives-

true story. the admission rate would probably go up to about 20-25 percent.

^probably! that’s would be lovely!

well the RD acceptance rate is 5%. there’s no evidence that EA deferrals have any higher of an acceptance rate :/

mmm. ok so deferral is pretty much a soft rejection.

this is too harsh. i have a four hour midterm tomorrow and two hour midterms for the rest of the week. i havent done ANYTHING yet. i am going insane…

ps. my account wasnt freezing last night. i wonder if thats a bad sign :(

^i don’t think it’s a bad sign. everyone’s account was freezing according to this forum, and i doubt it means much.

a deferral isn’t a soft rejection; it’s pretty much like you never applied EA and just put your app in for RD. not the best, but at least it’s not a rejection.

hola Bulldog hopefuls

just wanted to wish you all good luck again

~2014 Stanford Cardinal

Did anyone get any kind of acknowledgment from the financial aid office that all your stuff was received?

^Nope.

10char

only thing thats calming me right now is classical music :/

everyone should take a listen to this masterpiece

Do most of you guys have finals next week? I can’t bring myself to study if my life depended on it. Pretty much reading through CC instead…haha. This cannot be good.

And mine start on Wed
Perfect timing, no?

NJDS, thanks and congratulations on stanford! your stats are super impressive! :D

and i didn’t get any confirmation on my FA either. don’t worry.

^omg stupefy I was listening to that right before I clicked the link. I just can’t get over how amazing it is <33

I feel like I’m gonna explode waiting for decisions
I can’t bring myself to start on other college apps/essays until I know…which is bad because if I’m deferred/rejected I’ll have like 9 essays to do in two weeks D:

More than the amount of work. Idk if being rejected/deferred will make my motivation grow or not:P

Yeah, idk either…it could spur me into freakout mode and make me realize that I have very little time to applying to a bajillion other schools. OR I could be spending the rest of december crying in a hole somewhere convincing myself that college is for suckers. hahaha I wish decisions came out last week so we could’ve had this weekend to work on other apps if necessary…
