2015 Yale Waitlist Discussion Thread

Does anyone know Yale’s yield for this year? Are people still getting calls for the waitlist?

Just out of curiosity… where is everyone planning on going to school on this thread (if the wait list doesn’t work out)?

This is plain silly and arrogant.
Enjoy MIT. It has a very different corporate culture from Y, and the other ivies.
Why are you posting on so many other school boards?
Enjoy your journey.

^I don’t think that’s silly. Yale does have a reputation for being more humanities-oriented, and I would imagine that most very serious math/science types (Intel, Siemen’s winners, etc) would choose M, P, etc over Y, opening up waitlist spots for those with a math or science bent.

^ I don’t think that is silly either. In fact Yale sent out a significant number of likely letters this year specifically to math-science oriented kids. They are trying to grow the program so it definitely makes sense that they would do that.

It’s been a week since they first called our fellow waiting list students. I’m a “science heavy” person, and I’ve not yet received calls yet. I was at ISEF and met a person who is “science heavy” and got a call for admissions though.

Good luck to all!

I really want to be admitted, but how do we know if we’re not admitted?

Hi everyone,
do you know any knews? I’m also on the waitlist. Are they still calling? Is anyone of you international student? Do they call to international students or send an email?

^ I am wondering the exact same thing! I don’t know if I should give up hope or if I should still be waiting for the call.

Hi everyone on CC! I’ve been reading since a long time and you guys have been a great help. I just couldn’t resist but post and tell you guys about myself.

You’d think I am spamming by introducing myself, but, I am a fellow waitlistee at Yale. And I am still hopeful.

I am an Afghan currently studying in Dubai, UAE. I used to be a refugee, but things are a bit settled now. 'cause of lack of information and financial help, I wasn’t able to fully understand what AP or IB etc are and what kind of impact they have. Heck, I found out about the SAT a few weeks before the test. After taking these tests, I’ve fully understood the whole concept of how ‘American schooling’ is. FYI, I got 760 and 730 on the Physics and Math I, respectively, a 28 on the ACT, and a 108 on the TOEFL.

What I still didn’t grasp is why I have not been accepted. You see it’s not like I had the easy life, I know I know, everyone has their own story, but don’t I bring unique diversity?

For a guy who studied at an American school only for his last two years in high school. AND, still achieving the prestige of Valedictorian (five weeks ago I didn’t know what that was), and scoring good on his regular classes.

I had a perfect interview too. I am the president of the chess club, captain of the soccer team and a leader of the student council.

Why am I boring you with this? I just want to know from the highly knowledgeable and concerned parents and teens that I have had it all perfect and I still have the hopes, and it is not the end of the world for me either, But why?

Is my background not okay?

For God, for country and for Yale!

Hey everyone! I got off the waitlist less than a couple weeks ago, and I am enrolled for this Fall. I’m from Massachusetts. :)

buuuuuummmmmmmmmmp

^???

Is it time to give up hope on ever getting a call?

I called yesterday. I was told that final decisions were being made as we speak. Decisions will be announced next week and emails sent out-rejections included. I was also told that the yield was very high this year. Good luck everyone!

“final decision” means everyone remained got an rejection? or someone is still possible to get off waitlist?

well that’s dissapointing

Would we get stats and figures?

I still have clinging hope. But I also want to know what exactly I accomplished ( or not).

no idea. If you get a call, you are in…good luck! I have my doubts coz I didn’t get a call yet.

I got a call!!

Good luck everyone! Am sending positive energy to everyone out there!

Don’t stop believing.

Xamarai: would you mind telling us what time zone you are located at and what time you got the call?

I live in Dubai, that’s 4+

I got it like 20 minutes before my previous post. Which is almost 1900 my time.

The excitement never ends.
