2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@Sxsxjx Thank you for replying!

Also, by the way, to anyone that wants to know: I just received my financial aid from NYU, and it is outrageous. I actually cried. I only got a scholarship (5,500) and pell grant, work study (3,000), and 67,467 in loans for my financial aid package, which made no sense because my parents and I are considered low-income.

I had my own friends tell me to appeal to NYU, but in no way would I get anything good coming from calling the admission office. So, I really hope USC replies back. ): I cannot imagine taking 67k in loans.

In all honesty, it is such a horrifying experience to get accepted but in a sense rejected when the school refuses to give sensible financial aid. ):

@TheWorrisomeGirl USC financial aid for me is great. They’re paying 70% of the total price of everything. I’m from a low income household. So I think they’ll take good care of you too!

Yes I am, I’ve been here for about a year and a half. Currently finishing up statistics (my last class I need before transferring. What about you? @LACCryan

@asanabanana Hey! Was wondering, are you an out of state transfer student?

is the computer science/ business admin dual program available for transfer students?

@topchoiceschool I’m about 100% sure that it is. A student on this forum was admitted to that exact major last fall :slight_smile: It seems really popular too. When I was taking CSCI 103 & 109 this past semester, it seemed like everybody I talked to was a CSBA major :stuck_out_tongue:

@ProfessorX5 Thank you so much for reaffirming me about how good USC’s financial aid is! I also know some acquaintances from USC who have received extremely good financial aid, and that makes me really, really happy to know it can be affordable.

It was just so shocking when I saw NYU’s financial aid. I felt really defeated, because I spent all that time preparing my application. :confused: I didn’t expect them to blatantly disregard my huge need, and slap me with an insurmountable loan.

@zettasyntax If I applied for Marshall, would it be a difficult move to get into that major especially since it’s under a different school and not Marshall?

@topchoiceschool I’m not so sure, to be honest. The guy I’m thinking of goes by epicerrrr on here or something along that line if you want to look him up and ask; he might know more about it than me. The way I see it though, they might have you take the intro CSCI courses (103 & 109) and ask that you get a B average before letting you declare the major. I’m not sure how lenient they are on this requirement though. It seems tough to get a B in both classes considering how smart a lot of the other students are; I only performed near the average all semester long, so needless to say, I did not get a B average :stuck_out_tongue:

No, I’m from a California community college!

@ProfessorX5 Is it 70% including the housing price or just the tutition price?

@Cindyciclta including the housing price.

For those who got a SGR, how did you know? Under the Required document, there is a new link and its to send in my transcript. Prior to today, there wasn’t that link at all. I called the admission at USC and she said they are asking for my spring grades. But I didn’t get an email or formal letter about this? I sent in my official grades already anyways but i just wanted to make sure…

@TheWorrisomeGirl If you get into SCA, I wouldn’t be surprised if USC financial aid isn’t similar to NYU. While NYU has a bad reputation for aid, some formulas are the same and many people are shocked by the low aid they get from USC as well. You say you are low income, but if your parents have any assets - like cars, property - that is taken into the equation for whether you need aid.

Not trying to be a downer, just don’t want you blowing off other options thinking, a) you are getting into USC and b) that they will give you lots of aid. Both are too unpredictable, especially when getting in is less than 4% and I am guessing for transfers it is way less than that?

are most of us on here still waiting for a decision ?

@blueskies2day

Also, thank you for clarifying that! It might be similar, or it might not be. I also remembered USC requesting various documents to verify my parent’s income and also other documents to explain the complexity of my parent’s income. But, NYU never requested any further information concerning my parent’s income. I am not sure if that will make a difference when I hopefully receive USC’s financial aid, but I remembered USC asking a lot more questions about financial aid documents than NYU did. (I am also not sure if submitting the CSS hurt me or not for NYU).

Also, I understand that! Unfortunately, I feel really bad, because I did not think this through and only applied to two schools. Moreover, the second major I picked at USC was undecided, so I really hope I have a chance at getting at USC. I would be much happier at USC than I would at NYU. It would be amazing to get into SCA, but if I can get into dornsife that would be amazing, too.

still waiting on Dornsife… I totally agree with the numb/just wanting an answer feeling…

Annenberg and Cornell’s wait are killing me :frowning:

has anyone been accepted who applied to the school of dramatic arts?

I didn’t receive an SGR but I just sent in my spring grades a couple weeks ago, should I expect to here back june 1st or sooner?
