2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@USCTrojan031494 are you a sophomore or Jr. transfer? and have you received a sgr yet?

@USCTrojan031494 nvm! didn’t see your other post on the last page. you’ll probably hear back in a few weeks! cause they don’t need a sgr from you unless you’re taking prereq right now and your gpa is around their acceptance gpa(3.7)

Ok USC posted my SGR request but did not provide instructions… hmmmmmm

@cctousc RED, how about you? Also, thank you for the stats on transfers into Price. I know Price is small, but I didn’t realize transfer classes were that small. Hope to see you in the fall!

and @bigstom Glad to see other Price applicants!

Good luck everyone!

@waitgame, my son had the same issue. They came in the mail a few days later. Basically addresses for different delivery methods. Just call them.

@foosball Hey what courses did you take before applying to SCA? I applied to Annenberg but they basically only let you take the pre rec’s and no outside journalism classes count and they won’t take you with more than 32 units. I’m asking because I think I’ve changed my mind and I’m looking at SCA Film and TV for next year but I don’t know what courses to take this fall since I’ve completed the pre recs? I’m going to reach out to SCA once I’ve made up my mind just hoping you could offer some insight?

for everyone… I am a Marshall applicant and I took Calc 1 and Calc 2 instead of taking Business Calc, is that okay? lol too late now but :frowning:

@BIMguy it is fine. They say it’s either Calc 1 and 2 or Business Calc.

@masechka1988 Thank you for clarifying that! Initially a CS major, I took Calc 1 & 2 and then I wasn’t eligible to take Business Calc.

@BIMguy I am taking it now. It is much easier than Calc 1 and 2. I hope we’ll hear soon from them. This wait kills me

@masechka1988 I am sure since they only use the portion of Calc that you need for business majors haha. I know the wait is the worst!! Did you end up emailing/calling the counselor?

@BIMguy The area is not that bad. It’s so much better than when my dad went in the '70s. Don’t be a jerk and be street-smart and you’re mostly fine.

Is it normal to have zero action on your YOUSC profile? They sent me a transcript request in March and I sent that in, but the screen has never updated and I don’t seem to have any updates past that point (although it shows the transcript was received in the library). I’m applying to SCA and Dornsife as 2nd choice.

@weeanonymouse Yes that is what I think so too. I mean USC has buckled down on their on-campus security and are getting better each year.

@weeanonymouse You should expect to hear back in the next 2 weeks, if not… then you should contact your admissions counselor to see what is up. You didn’t take any prereqs in spring?

From twitter:

Many transfer students are beginning to hear from us with decisions. If you haven’t already, don’t panic. We will contact everyone by June 1st with either a request for spring grades or a decision. Which basically means more waiting…sorry. For those of you have already been admitted, or are wondering what the next steps will be if you are admitted, this blog’s for you.

@transfercool I’m also RED! Are you coming from a 4 year or community college? I’m really hoping to get accepted to Price because no other school has a program like this at an undergraduate level.

Is calc 2 needed for Marshall? I go to a CC in PA and their calculus course directly transfers and meets the math requirement for Marshall all on its own, I wasn’t under the impression that calc 2 was needed.

@BIMguy I might be biased since i took calculus 1 and 2 lol, but I think taking calculus 1 and 2 instead of business calculus and impress the admission people because it is way harder than business calculus. In business calculus I heard it’s easier because there are barely any trig. involved and it was more about business applications. In addition , only engineering major would take calculus 1 and 2 and more. handling those calculus class with an A shows how academically you are and capable to handle more advanced and rigorous work. Just my theory lol so don’t take my exact word for it, and it’s biased.
@penntousc on my transfer worksheet, it says that I need calculus 2 to satisfy the equivalent of USC business calculus. So you might have to take calc 2

@weeanonymouse same here. The only thing that was updated was the option to submit my spring grades in the ‘submit document tab’, but the ‘check admission decision’ the message for an SGR is still there.
