2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@chunkymonkeydude My son also received a merit scholarship.

@fighton7 I’m also taking two other courses, so the total for my summer session is ~19K. Since I was a spring admit, they said I could use a summer pell grant and such to in place of the fall one I should have received, but no word on that yet. They have already given me my estimates for the next year, so I’m not sure what’s up. USC financial aid has usually been very, very fast for me.

If “transfer merit scholarships” have been reviewed, that must mean they’ve reviewed all the applications, right?

I think if we haven’t heard by this point…

Nothing in the mail today. Is it safe to assume denials at this point? I haven’t really heard from any Annenberg applicants. Is that school generally harder to get into? I’m having my doubts. However, I remain positive but I’m getting very nervous

Also, has anyone reached out to their admissions counselor by phone? Would calling or emailing do me any favors? I want to find out if I have been denied at this point instead of waiting around because I have decisions to make for other universities.

@uschopeful6 Someone on here got into Annenberg for communications a few days ago and a few people, including myself, received SGRs last week. You might here something soon!

From what it sounds like, a bunch of people got decisions in the last week of May/Early June last year so I wouldn’t assume anything

@uschopeful6 I want do the same thing because I’m just tired of waiting and just want to call and say hey if I’m rejected just tell me already! My counselor is out of office until June 1st, so it’s really frustrating, but you should try emailing your counselor because they might be able to tell you something!

Thanks for the responses. I think I’m just getting more nervous as the days go by. I haven’t received an SGR and I would be entering as a sophomore so that makes me even more nervous. Can they accept you without asking for spring grades? I also just sent an email to my admissions counselor. Thanks for the advice!

@uschopeful6 I’m in the same boat. I also had other schools waiting on a response from me. I didn’t call or email anyone from USC because I felt like they would get annoyed. I ended up paying the $500 deposit for another school. It was a very hard decision to make but I feel it’s better to secure your spot somewhere else as a back up while waiting for USC.

And edit on my last post *hear

I forgot if I had already posted or not

Anyone on here seen Berkeley and UCLA’s campuses, and could basically summarize how they compare to USC’s?

@FightOn952 I’m looking into Cardinal Gardens & Century.

I just received a call from “Noelle” at USC’s admission office that went something like this…

Her: Hi, may I ask if you’re registered for any math classes this spring?
Me: Actually yes, I’m taking Statistics
Her: Thank you, that’s all I needed to know.

Then another call from her, roughly one minute later…

Her: I see that you’re taking classes at numerous CC’s this semster, can you name all of them?
Me: ELAC, WLAC, LACC, LAVC,LAHC
Her: Ok, thank you. We are requesting your official Spring grades and they can be sent at our main office of undergraduate admission.

I’m an Annenberg applicant with a 3.67 GPA that’s completed all GE’s and finishing off the recommended Statistics course in the next two weeks. I live 2 miles away from USC, in koreatown.

Needless to say, my hopes are extremely high right now.

should I email my counselor?

Ok so I just called usc bc I sent my spring grades in two weeks ago following a spring grade request and she told me no one will hear until mid July if they got in if they received a SGR so I’m SUPER confused

^^^that’s crazy

I wonder how an applicant gets piority for the transfer merit scholarship. The link on Twitter states that financial aid still may be awarded

But I’m extra confused bc people have said that they’ve heard back…

I feel like they just told you a half ass answer to get you off the phone? Maybe, I’m not sure. But I do know that they are most likely annoyed of all the calls and emails they have been receiving. So best bet is to continue waiting.
