2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@masechka1988 Aww, I’m super sorry to hear that :frowning: You had a stellar GPA and it’s even more impressive given your background. I honestly think that the counselors may have heavy input and a lot of it may come down to how they respond to your story/stats. I certainly think that’s why I was accepted the next year I tried despite my GPA having dropped - I got an entirely new counselor.

@TheWorrisomeGirl In the past, there’s been no formal way to appeal a rejection. I basically just sent a letter to my counselor and told him I’d like to appeal my decision. He told me that he was going to forward it to an “appeal committee” and that’s all I heard. Awhile later, my OASIS restrictions updated again and after more waiting, I got a letter saying my decision had not changed; still rejected. I do remember one person from the 2014 thread getting in on appeal! And fast too. I’m not sure if he’s still around, but google the USC 2014 Transfer Stats thread and see if you can find his post and maybe send him a message? I wish you good luck

@zettasyntax Thank you so much!!! I don’t think he would still be around on this forum, since most accepted people go off grid, but I am going to do a quick search with the key word “appeal” and see what I find!

@TheWorrisomeGirl You’ve probably already found it but there seems to be a thread on here that may help give you the info you need. Search “USC appeal” and a 2016 result will populate. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. In the meantime you should brainstorm a strategy as to why you think you should be reconsidered, and leveraging NYU would be a good start.

I am so stressed out right now. I literally cannot take the wait any longer…

On another note; access to Oasis can either keep you up at night, or help you rest a little easier.

I’ve always wanted to know what it must be like to have access but after hearing some of the added torture it can cause, the grass doesn’t always appear greener on the other side.

End rant.

@USCsssss I feel your pain… you mind sharing your stats? thanks

rejected from marshall… I’m going to off myself

@chunkymonkeydude Please don’t! You’re an amazing and wonderful person. Don’t you ever doubt your worth!

I’m too scared to check now. If anyone got accepted, please post!!

Accepted to Marshall
Transfer Merit Scholar ~$13,000
gpa 3.89
Transferring from a CCC
I just submitted my financial aid today, bc I didn’t plan on going…do you think it’s too late to get a decent award?

Rejected!

No SGR, no access to OASIS. 4.0 at my current CC, 63 credits completed.
That really stings, I have to admit. Though I think they turned me down due to gaps in my education.

I am going to submit an appeal.

Thanks for the company, amigos.

For those rejected, thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. I’m sure its hard to post it publicly, so I really appreciate you all taking the time to help others on here.

:frowning: REJECTED

Rejected. It’s cool, off to ucsd anyway!!

@zettasyntax do you remember a phenomena of online portal decisions being posted like this in 2014 or 2015? I haven’t checked mine yet, but I assume if it’s automated, we’ll be getting more tomorrow and the next day at midnight.

@masechka1988 that really sucks and I’m sorry to hear that :frowning: Did the appeal option reappear on your portal? You still have a chance if you appeal for your decision!

@cctousc Not that I can recall. I do believe rejections are usually faster to show up online than acceptances. I saw my rejection pdf at exactly midnight and the physical letter itself showed up like two weeks later.

Also, I agree with @ashurikko It’s very tough to be posting about rejections. I’m pretty sure I was just about the only SGR-getter to update that they got a rejection in the 2014 stats thread, but your information does help future applicants get an idea, so I’d like to thank you all as well for being brave.

@selfofsteam do you mind explaining what major you applied to and what prereq have you completed? I’m surprised that they straight-out reject you like that! A 4.0gpa is really impressive, but maybe the classes you took didn’t reflect how academically prepared you were?

Rejected - SCA animation

3.5 gpa
Great letters of rec
Pretty good essays
I thought I had a great portfolio maybe not
Looks like another year at SMC for me
All this waiting for nothing, really hurts

@SoCal5151 How did you receive your decision? via portal or mail? and are you a sophomore transfer?
