@topchoiceschool I think so. I took chinese 4 at my cc and i thought that every usc graduate needs to have a foreign language completed, but it was for certain majors. The class is transferrable and even though it didn’t satisfy any requirement, I’m assuming it’s calculated in my usc gpa.
Rejected.

Sucks but congrats to those accepted. For the rest of us, just wasn’t meant to be / try again if you’re up for it. As for me, I’m ready to get this degree over with and can’t wait anymore.
Also try not to be too hard on yourselves if you don’t get in. The school you get into doesn’t define your success. Just kick a** at whatever school you go to
I’m pretty curious as to what exactly the common reasons are that people get rejected, because there are some applicants with solid portfolios that are getting denied. Do any of you think that maybe they place a cap on how many applicants an individual counselor can accept, in order to promote diversity?
@zettasyntax Do you know what the details were of his appeal letter? and do you have any tips? Anything is really appreciated.
are there any SCA students still waiting?
@zettasyntax do you think my admissions offers will be rescinded now that I have second W on my transcript. I did email my admissions counselor that I wasn’t going to pass the class and enrolled in a different one this summer that in going to pass. Sadly I havnt heard anything back because it’s a holiday weekend.
Has anyone with an SGR received a rejection or acceptance yet?
@twomore2pay4 Yes, I’m a transfer. I’m probably going to work and do some volunteering while I wait.
Congratulations to your daughter!
I’ve seen one person, so far, get the transfer scholarship. Has anyone else gotten it? And is there a chance that someone who applied after the deadline could recieve it?
@Redbre Thats a great idea. Do an internship or something else in your area of interest. Congrats!
My daughter is very excited and thank you.
@twomore2pay4 Thank you!
I received a SGR on April 26th and was admitted on May 24th. Admitted without sending my spring grades, my semester just ended last Friday.

Best of luck to all waiting!!
Have any poli sci majors heard yet? I haven’t seen anyone post about being rejected or accepted for that major.
@kurobara I don’t think getting a W is grounds for getting rescinded. If you actually took the class and got a poor grade, I would consider that far worse. I didn’t get rescinded over a W I wound up getting. I even based part of my admission essay on how I had no W’s haha, so I was sure embarrassed when I got one after including that
@koenigsegggegg Okay, so I just googled the thread (page 7 of the USC 2014 Transfer Stats thread if you want to check it out too). He said he was flat out rejected, no SGR and that he had a 3.3 GPA. He had a stellar spring semester, so he used that information to appeal and it apparently worked. People say that for appeals, you really need to try and include information you didn’t mention before (so in your case, definitely throw something about how you’re a stronger applicant for not having the W’s). For my appeal, I pretty much just explained why I got a B in stats (since that was the only reason I figured they rejected me) and in hindsight, this wasn’t really a smart strategy. If anything, my advice is to be different/unique so you stand out from other appeals. A lot of people don’t have successful appeals. I remember one dude that wrote such a sassy appeal and he claims to have had his decision overturned (I can’t remember if it was for USC or UCLA though). I can understand that maybe they liked how different he was (even if he was being snarky). It’s also possible that some people won’t accept their offers of admission, so maybe a space will potentially open up for you (since USC doesn’t seem to believe in bumping up transfer spring admits, they’d probably just accept more of them). I wish you luck and if have a favorable result, let us know. I would love to hear about a successful appeal
I’m afraid my online classes won’t transfer. I took statistics and microecon online. Does anyone know if they’ll transfer? I was just aware that science with lab and foreign language couldn’t be taken online.
@ashurikko you’re right about that, it more than likely will just depend on how the department reviews those courses. I’d think that if those courses are on the articulation between USC and your school, they’d likely transfer
It is great everyone is so supportive on this thread.
And I am not trying to derail that trend, but there has been talk of appeals…and more and more people are jumping on that train. I have to be blunt people, it is time to move on. IF you have super compelling data that wasn’t in your original app - like you just got a patent, or just got your pilot’s license and you are applying to aeronautical engineering - things of that magnitude, then send them a letter. But if you are appealing, thinking that on a second look they will all of a suddenly realize they missed something in the same info you supplied first time, you are holding out too long and wasting your time and theirs.
They broke up with you and you have to accept that. Sorry, but dragging this on and on isn’t healthy. It’s a great school, but a lot of them are.
@ashurikko Somebody posted this earlier; here’s a link to help you figure out what may/may not transfer. Just enter the school and year. Hope this helps. https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic_hist_range.aspx
@blueskies2day Bad advice. Let these folks keep swinging until the final bell sounds. It’s their future, not yours.
