2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@LACCryan reactivated my account that I made three years ago to agree with this statement. It ain’t over till it’s over people!

Got my SGR on May 5th, and submitted on May 23rd. Anybody that got an SGR hear back yet???

@perpetuallyworry Much appreciated. I know what it feels like to be rejected. About a month ago UCLA denied my admission and it stung. Yes, I contemplated appealing but ultimately decided against it because USC was my top choice. Looking back, I certainly wouldn’t want anyone kicking me while I’m down. That’s why I felt compelled to speak up. I’m sure there was no ill intent but it certainly felt pretentious.

I just got a SGR last tuesday and I’m waiting for the semester to conclude. Annenberg hopeful here.

@LACCryan I’m a rising sophomore with 60 credits hours. I had a 3.6 my fall semester and a 3.2 my spring semester. I’m kind of depending on my HS stats.

@perpetuallyworry got a sgr may7th and submitted grade may 11th and still waiting. 3.8 gpa sophomore applicant for marshall. I really hope to hear back this week or next week. i can’t handle the anxiety

Just stayed up until midnight, thought there might be round 2 from last night…but I got nothing. Anyone hear?

Submitted my grades . First semester was 3.64 second was 4.0 so my cumulative is now 3.84 … Fingers crossed!!

@CaliforniaUSC me tooo! Hopefully that means acceptance packets ?? This is me being optimistic lol but hilefully we hear back soon.

@CaliforniaUSC Nothing :\

nothing from me either :frowning: also submittted my grades from the requested sgr

Hello I was admitted for spring with a 3.57 from CSULB. Just wanted to say, I have till August 1st to make a decision.

If anyone here is to be admitted, you’ll probably be put in spring

So will tomorrow be the day we get notified?? It’s getting p rediculous. I gotta chill but the wait is killing me.

@AwesomeHero Congratulations! I actually wanted to go to CSULB for the longest time, but they kept rejecting me over not taking a speech class lol :stuck_out_tongue: Actually, USC is very weird with transfer spring admits. People who got SGR’d and hear back even in mid-July sometimes get in for the fall semester. It’s a very weird thing and I’m just calling it as random because I’ve noticed no real pattern.

@zettasyntax thank you. My problem was that during the year 2014 I was a full time student, but in 2015 I was not. As I told you, first I had to drop all my classes during spring, and then I took only 10 units during fall. Even though now I am taking 14 units, they assumed I can not handle being a full time student.

@pomeranian4rich Thank you. No I did not see any appeal button. I have already talked to my counselor, and she explained my rejection, so there is no point to appeal.

I have a final today, and just found that I cannot access to Yousc.
getting really crazy…!! wish all you guys big luck today !

@masechka1988 I’m so sorry to hear about your decision :frowning: I know it really sucks. Do you mind sharing the reason your counselor gave? Or you could send me a private message if you don’t want to share publicly. I just want to get an idea of why they might reject someone…

@masechka1988 Did you email your counselor directly to ask about your rejection? I also unfortunately got rejected and am trying to figure out whether or not it’s worth it to appeal. My usc portal doesn’t have an appeal option

Students are denied because they only have so much room, happens in regular admissions too. Many with great grades and apps get tossed. Aprrox 6,000 transfer applications will be rejected. A large majority in general (and on cc) will not get in, that is expected statistically. Appeal should only be done if some significant information has changed, or is new. They accept way more than they need, they plan for people to choose elsewhere, it is called yield. So thinking you should appeal because someone else may decide not to go and it opens up a spot for you is inaccurate and leads to false hope and angst waiting all over again for nothing. Many years, zero appeals are granted on transfers app cycle. Appeal only if you have something great AND new to say. If you do, good luck. Harsh to hear, but rejection is part of the process, go where you are wanted!
