2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

tomorrow will be June 1, will they make the decision tonight?

@AwesomeHero Just curious why you believe we would be admitted for spring? I hope you’re right though, because spring is better than nothing. I’ve been SGR’d and am waiting for the current semester to conclude. Thanks!

@thepinksun Thank you. I don’t mind sharing it to others, may be it will be helpful for someone. So she said everything was good, my GPS (3.78) and essays. The only thing was that I was not a full time student during the last two semesters. The two semesters that they paid attention on. So they just want to make sure the student can handle being a full time student at USC. Even though I had a reason why I could not take 12 units last year, and I am taking 14 units now, they did not take it into consideration.

@alexk97 I am sorry about that. I know what it feels like. So I emailed her saying " could you please tell me the reasons why I was rejected? I will try to work on it and apply next year". She answered that the issue was that I was not attending school full time. It never hurts to ask or appeal. I will appeal saying that now I am a full time student so I will be able to take min 12 units at USC. I don’t know how yet. I will find out after I take my finals this week.

Applying from a CSU will that hurt or help??? How long after sending in my spring grades will i know?

@masechka1988 are you a junior or sophomore applicant? and have you completed most of marshall prereq?

@pomeranian4rich I am a sophomore appliciant. I had 44 units when applied, and I have 58 now. By the time I applied, I had all the prereqs, but calc 2. I took business calc during the spring

Rejected from Marshall.

GPA: 3.9, but I have only taken 3 units each the past two semesters.

If you guys want anymore details, let me know.

When/how did you find out? @oso766

I gave access to my portal to my gf; she showed me today. The letter was dated 05/27, but I don’t think I have the physical letter yet.

Does the spring grade request thing go away immediately after you submit it or will it take some time to go away?

Also is there any chance that I will be a fall admit? 3.84 GPA 4.0 spring grades and i received a SGR

Gonna stay on this thread whole day today for any new informations. Pretty much sure that I am gonna be rejected.Fight on, you guys!

@zettasyntax Hey, I’m going to apply again next year (was the original plan) with more than 30 units this time, and maybe even 64, but when I re-apply, do I need to re-submit my highschool transcripts or do they already have them on record? Thanks

@masechka1988 Okay, so that doesn’t really make any sense to me because last year, this really cool dude with a great GPA not only skipped a semester, but was only taking 2 classes for the spring semester and he got into Marshall. I have read that USC likes to see people going full-time, but that pretty much proved to me that it is possible to get in without always having been a full-time student.

@silvermansachs I had to re-submit my HS transcripts and proof of graduation. I had assumed that they had mine on record too, but I got an email in early May saying that my counselor needed to see them. I did have a different counselor than my first time around though. I’m not sure if the case would be the same for you, but I’d have them handy/be prepared to send them in.

@zettasyntax I don’t know may be he was super good in sports or something or had some other amazing achievements so they closed their eyes that he was not a full time student

Just for reference, I got into Marshall as a Spring admit June 17th when I went through this process (2014). I too was checking several times a day. Don’t put too much thought into what days it could be, I don’t think there’s any reasoning as to when they do it. Good luck

Hey guys, I really really really hope you guys can help me out. I am having a hugely difficult time deciding between Northeastern and USC. At first I was 100% sure I wanted to commit to USC, but now I’m wondering… What do you guys think?

Here’s my understanding thus far

USC - Higher ranked #23 in USA, better weather/no winters, in Los Angeles, better sports, better social life, more well-known and a big brand name school.

NE - Lower ranked but still top 50 at #47, Co-op, cheaper, on the rise… However, I’m not sure if it will ever rise to USC’s ranking.

While NE has a great co-op program… USC has a great Trojan family and links/connections that set up internships, interviews, etc. for me with successful Trojan alumni…

My main concern is simply the fact that USC is so expensive while NE is about 10k cheaper
I can afford both but I just think both are good schools and am having trouble deciding whether or not the extra money is worth it to upgrade from an already great school (NE) to USC. Plus NE’s co-op program is practically a guaranteed job right after graduation and a great place to build a resume while studying

@Sxsxjx Definitely look at the rankings of your major, if you like looking at those. Some Northeastern majors may be ranked higher than USC majors. And rankings only say so much. There are over 2600+ universities in the US and honestly, going to a school that is in the top 100, 200, etc. is a big deal and is something to be proud of.

Also think about a possible grad school career. One of the reasons why I chose USC was because I don’t plan on going to grad school so I could afford to splurge on my education for a couple of years, as opposed to an additional at least 2 years or more of grad school.

Really, they’re both fantastic schools. You will get a guaranteed job regardless. All you have to do is think about what type of experience you want, because that is really the only determining factor.

@Sxsxjx what’s your major? It all comes down to your major and where you want to be after graduation. I think if you want to stay in the SoCal area, USC is a must.
