@John6311 portal, and it was dated today
What was the date? @transfercool
@transfercool what are your stats? are you a sophomore or junior transfer?
Is there actually no one in the transfer Facebook group? Or does everyone just not show up until you join it?
@dhailey I’m pretty sure there’s just one person in there. I would assume it’s setup the same as he other USC Facebook groups, and I can see that the other groups have a few thousand people each. Even though the group is a closed group, we should still be able to see who is in it, but not see the posts. Hopefully people start getting added soon, since we are getting closer to the start of the next school year.
@wmandy Thank you! You as well!!
@qwality2953 @dhailey i think we each need to call admissions so that they know that transfer students are waiting to get accepted to the page. this wait to get added to the fb group is so unprofessional
@nittinten someone should call them and tell them to accept us to the page!!
Anybody here like in my situation, where they got denied twice now by USC (first as a senior in highschool, and second first year college student), and applying the third year, but as a junior transfer? If so, did you guys get accepted or denied? What other schools did you guys apply too? I’m scared that I’ll get denied the THIRD time, so I’m leaving options with UC schools lol.
I understand the excitement but you all cannot be serious about the FB page, right? I mean, school’s not even out in most parts of California, and USC has way more on their plate than to rather worry about a little Facebook page. No disrespect but I don’t think access to the page is going to reveal any life changing information. USC knows what they’re doing, so don’t worry about being left in the dark - they’ll take care of you.
@qwality2953 Getting closer to the start of next school year? Don’t be ridiculous, we are one day past the deadline for admission decisions. Relax. Now if it’s mid-August and you have no access to the FB transfer page, then that’s a different story. But for now, go ahead and soak in your acceptance. Have a drink or buy some SC gear.
@LACCryan The importance of the Facebook page, at least to me, isn’t really about finding more information from USC. I know in the past many students have used the Facebook page to find roommates. I’m sure many students this time around planned on doing he same thing. Transfer students get the short end of the stick when it comes to housing, so it’s important to start planning as soon as possible. It will be much harder if we have to wait until July to find out we didn’t get university housing and need to scramble for other options.
As far as being busy, I can understand that. I don’t think that it’s unreasonable to question why we have been waiting so long though. The 2016 freshman Facebook group seems to have a lot of people. If the Facebook page didn’t really matter that much I don’t think they would have included it on the portal.
Yeah I would have to agree with, @LACCryan
Worrying about getting into a Facebook group with other accepted students who also have not been able to join the group shouldn’t be a worry. If possibly you were the only person that hasn’t been accepted into the group while others have, then yeah you can worry because there’s things that have contributed to that feeling, such as the housing situation. I think the admissions office need to worry more about releasing decisions more than trying to accept students into a Facebook group. But I completely understand where you are coming from @qwality2953
@John6311 @LACCryan I dont want to drag this out, but I feel like I should stand up for my opinion. This thread was meant for transfer applicants to discuss their application process and share their questions, stories, and (hopefully) successes. In a thread where people weren’t judged for questioning their application status, I am confused why the Facebook page should not be worried about. It is another part of the admissions process, just like many of the other things people are asking about. It feels like you believe this problem (which is not limited to just me) is not as important as any other problem on here.
Like I have mentioned before, USC housing is difficult to get as a transfer student. Also, not everyone lives in Southern California. There are transfer students from all over the world, and many of them may not be able to visit during the summer to search for housing. Meeting people through Facebook would allow these students to find roommates that could make their USC experience better than if they were to look for available housing on Craigslist or other similar sites.
Again, I don’t want to seem hostile, but I just want to defend my position. I don’t think there is any need to brush off some people’s worries simply because others aren’t at that point in the process yet.
@qwality2953 like I said, I completely understand where you’re coming from. No, I do not think that trying to be accepted into a Facebook group is MORE important than the other issues being discussed here, such as hoping to be accepted into the university, because there’s a majority of applicants (as it seems) that are still waiting on a decision, which is very stressful because we have waited for a decision more than you had to and it’s already past the estimated decision release date. And a reason as to why you may still be waiting to get accepted into the group. For incoming freshmen most decisions are released at one time, whereas transfer students receive their decisions, sporadically. So again, that may be a reason as to why it’s taking a long time to get accepted into the USC transfer group on Facebook. Again, I understand where you’re coming from because of the housing situation and I mean this in no hostile way.
@John6311 I agree that this decision deadline is weighing heavily on a lot of people’s minds. With that being said, though, that shouldn’t mean that every other thing shouldn’t be worried about. Though there are a lot of people that are still waiting for a decision, there a people on this thread who have been either accepted or rejected, and are wondering what their next step is, whether that means planning on their first year as a Trojan or planning on applying again next year. I’m not saying that my worries about the Facebook page should be prioritized over the incoming decisions. I just want everyone to understand that it’s okay to worry about the process, and there are people who are here to support and encourage you along the way. Simply getting accepted doesn’t mean that there is nothing to worry about.
If I got a spring grade request and maintained my 4.0 GPA fall and spring semester, is there a chance I’ll still be rejected? I’m a sophomore transfer and did business calc/writing course requisites this spring.
Does anyone know when usc will ask for official transcripts after you receive an acceptance?
@silvermansachs Yes, I applied three times also and I am still waiting to hear. I go to school outside of California so I don’t know if that will hurt or help me. Did you receive a SGR?
I received a SGR on May 3, and my spring grades were received on May 23. When do you guys think I will receive my decision? I’m a marshall applicant sophomore transfer
