@Sumner Did you receive a SGR and were you a sophomore?
why not make your own facebook page? Of course, there will always be the “official” page but nothing is stopping you from making your own page to connect with transfers for the time being. You could even make a groupme and post the invite link. Sure it won’t have everyone but it could get the ball rolling… just a suggestion @qwality2953
@Sumner ugh sorry to hear that… did you get an SGR? were u a sophomore or junior applicant? and did you finish all the GE’s/pre reqs?
@thepinksun My comments weren’t really to complain about the lack of a Facebook page. It was more to support and show why I had a legitimate concern regarding the transfer process. Like many others posted here, there was an option on the USC portal that was not giving a response. Even people who have submitted documents but still see the option to submit them have posted their concerns to this thread. However, those concerns were not simply brushed off in he same way.
My problem isn’t only about the Facebook page; I just don’t see why it’s acceptable for some people to post their questions and concerns while others are told that their problem is not as important and shouldn’t be worried about.

@Sumner so sorry… what’s the date on your letter?
S/he just gave you a suggestion, that’s all. @qwality2953
@badmintongirl You’re just supposed to send them in as soon as possible. There’s no date but it’s implied that you shouldn’t hold off on it.
@John6311 I understand that, but I was just explaining that starting a Facebook page was not the reason for my comments. My issue was with deciding which problems are good enough to discuss and which should just be brushed off. If you look back a few pages all I did was comment that I shared the same issue with another poster. What I didn’t like was being told that there are bigger things to worry about than that issue. Everything should be open to discussion on here, not just the decision deadline.
My last comment wasn’t really a direct response, more of a general post for everyone. I just tagged them to acknowledge their post that tagged me.
@transfercool were you notified in the mail or on the portal of your acceptance? Congrats!
This whole thing has been blown out of proportion. In essence, all I was saying was congrats - you got in, and don’t worry because USC will take care of you. Yes, I understand your surrounding circumstances and the consequent need to prepare living arrangements. However, if you’re expecting to be housed in USC owned property you should remember a couple of things. 1. Transfer students are given last priority for housing and 2. even if it does happen, you can bet it won’t be arranged through Facebook.
Nevertheless, I believe you are simply trying to find a roommate, correct? So I’m pretty sure that given the facts listed above, you most certainly won’t be able to dictate with whom you would room.
That leaves this last alternative. A simple google search will help steer you in the right direction. Now, I took the liberty of finding this one… http://www.firstchoicehousing.com/Tenants/roommate_search.html - to help get you started.
Sorry if I sounded like your concerns should be dismissed, because that’s not the case and they are in fact legitimate. However, this thread is most helpful to students whom have already exhausted their own resources (as adults), and are now reduced to looking for answers that were previously unsuccessful in acquiring.
@transfercool and did you ever receive an SGR?
@LACCryan The USC housing app allows you to put in requests for students you would like to room with, which is why I wanted to meet people through the Facebook group. I’ve searched on Google before, and found places such as First Choice, Stuho, Nupac, Gateway, The Lorenzo, West 27th and countless other places. Still, I would like to have the opportunity to get to know people first before committing to living with them.
I was simply wondering why it’s taken so long for the Facebook group to accept people. I was asked if I was serious, and I am replying that yes, I was serious.
I just called my admissions counselor and it went straight to voicemail saying that he will be out of the office until, June 6th. I know others have called and their counselors won’t be in until, June 7th and so on.
Which means we have to wait more!?
Has anyone tried calling the main admissions line? Do they know anything about when we should know??
@megan343 @John6311 Portal, dated 6/1. I took this past spring semester off from college to further my real estate education and work.
@qwality2953 if you’re worried about housing, I’m in the same boat and I think it’s a serious matter that needs to be talked about. Facebook groups are one of the easiest ways to find roommates for college students now a days.
On that note, if you’re looking for a roommate, I’m trying to be aggressive about it and find one myself. So if you DM me maybe we could talk about being roommies and finding a place to live before the madness starts? Haha
Also, would someone like me to just start a Facebook page??? It will be unofficial, but I’m not very happy about the “official” one not responding to anyone’s requests to join.
As I previously suggested, just start it. @worldchanger
@qwality2953 I understand it is a legitimate concern and I proposed a legitimate solution… start your own group. You don’t have to wait on USC to get the ball rolling.
