@katwhooo congrats!!
@katwhooo What was the additional info about the aid that they were requesting?
@topchoiceschool
The gist of the email said: Additional information or action is required to process your application for 2016-2017 financial aid. Please follow these instructions as soon as possible so that we can accurately determine your eligibility for need-based aid or review your request for an adjustment to existing aid.
I think it’s probably because I never bothered to send in a FAFSA form because I knew I wouldn’t get any financial aid.
@zettasyntax if USC covers your entire tuition, does that mean you only have to pay for housing? What does the 16k consist of? because I think im in a similar situation as yours
@katwhooo out of curiosity, did you take any accounting or economics courses?
@penntousc
Yes I took a micro and macro course, got a B+ in both. I didn’t take any accounting courses though; I was planning on taking it next semester
@itslife123 I actually don’t remember many cases where USC has specified an exact GPA requirement, sorry That’s something I would hear more regularly for schools like UCLA. If it makes you feel any better though, I’ve never seem anybody post about a decision getting rescinded in the two years of transfer threads I’ve been around for
@ucsborusc Yup, it pretty much comes down to housing, I believe. I think I did that math once and it also consisted of insurance because I haven’t had medical insurance for like 3 years and the cost of that was I think, somewhere like ~$1,500. Other than that, yeah, mostly down to housing I hear just about nobody gets them to pay for that; those select few are lucky.
@katwhooo congrats on your acceptance!! did you ever receive a confirmation e-mail when they received your transcript? I sent mine forever ago but have not gotten a confirmation
@ashcjvms
Nope I didn’t receive a confirmation email. I was ready to call the admissions office yesterday but I saw that the message for SGR had disappeared. I sent my spring grades by mail and uploaded both my unofficial and official transcripts to the portal just in case because I was so worried
@katwhooo Congrats! Can I ask where you applied from and who your counselor was?
Haven’t been on the thread in little over a week. I was denied on Memorial Day, but am planning to appeal. I am sure it has already been discussed, but are there any other rejected applicants who have appealed or are planning to? I have an idea of what I am going to write about, but it is always nice to hear from other people in the same situation as I am. Good luck to those still waiting and keep your head up to those who have been turned away.
Anyone think there’s a slight disadvantage for quarter system applicants who received SGR’s? I won’t be able to send in my grades until mid-June, and it might take even more time for processing. By the time they get to my application again, there would be a lot fewer spots remaining, and they might become more strict with handing out acceptances. I don’t know, haha … I’m just so nervous
@izrobins
As I said earlier I applied from NYU!
I’m not sure who my counselor is, how would I find that out?
Rejected
Received an SGR late April, submitted my grades this past Friday (6/3) and my portal just updated today with my rejection.
Oh well… Trying again next year as a junior transfer
@badmintongirl oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. Do you mind sharing your stats? What major were u applying for?
@badmintongirl I’m sorry to hear that do you mind sharing your stats? What classes did you take spring semesters and what were your grades? (this is really making me nervous now… first sgr applicant rejected)
I’ve also noticed that my admission counselor have been replying back to my email extremely fast. It usually would take them a week but it takes them a day or less now.
@badmintongirl she’s a dornsife applicant
Most applicants that get rejected do not come back and post, so this is not the first person to get an sgr and get denied, there are many that you never hear from. sgr is no indication whatsoever of rejection or acceptance and should be viewed as just a piece of data they need to complete your application.
@USCimhereforu 3.6 GPA at time of application and 3.4 for second semester. My first choice major was Undeclared - Dornsife and Health & Humanity as 2nd choice.
@pomeranian4rich My GPA info is listed above and for my spring semester, I took Calculus 1, General Chemistry, GE History Class, and a foreign language. I had all my prerequisites completed except for 1 section. Currently at 51 units.
I think my application was decent, in terms of ECs and essays… but I feel it was mostly my GPA that didn’t get me the acceptance. I had an okay GPA but with the low level of difficulty in the classes I took, they were probably expecting a higher GPA out of me. I’m not too upset with my rejection, it’ll give me the opportunity to improve upon my stats for next year’s cycles and I’ll be able to add some UC schools onto my list as well. At least now I don’t have to religiously check this thread or my portal anymore I hope the best for all of you guys still waiting!
Hii, if any girls on here are looking for housing. I actually found an apartment at ellendale that I might be interested in leasing. It’s a 2 bedrooms apt for $2500 for the entire apt (4 people max). I’m currently looking for 2 or 3 more people to rent this place with me, so message me if you are interested!
@badmintongirl thank you for taking your time on letting us know about ur stats I hope u get in next year!
@ucsborusc Hey! I haven’t got accepted yet but if I do get accepted, I would be interested My friend and i are applying to usc this year, and if we get accepted, we were planning to get an apartment too. So we’ll see.
