If it’s an unofficial I believe they have to check it to make sure it’s legit, I would follow it up with your real transcripts ASAP as it’s preferred and a bit more official. I sent in a .pdf of my unofficials for the time being to help expedite the process and help them with their decision and then I rush ordered my sealed transcripts today.
@bigstom That’s actually a very common question that came up last year. Being a spring admit can definitely be an annoyance and in my opinion, even more so if you are a junior transfer. Generally, the answer is going to be no. I asked my counselor if this was possible and he had a complete change of personality in his email where it basically came off to me that he wanted me to shut up about moving up a semester. He surely didn’t say it in those words, but the tone of his email was so different compared to the others that it really soured my opinion of him. I did everything in my power to see if I could get bumped up - even sending a letter to the USC prez himself only to get a reply from the Dornsife dean instead. I don’t really understand spring admits for transfer students. Rant over
However, there is a very slim chance that a handful of transfers will be bumped up, but there is nothing you can do to better your odds; they will let you know if you were selected. No spring admit student from last year (on the forum anyway) claimed to have been bumped to fall, so it seems extremely rare.
Guys I have a question regarding financial aid. When I applied for FAFSA I selected on campus housing and since its really hard to find housing on campus I decided to look for apartments outside of campus like Lorenzo and Gateway. Do I need to go back to my FAFSA and change it to off campus housing? Will that effect my financial aid package? btw I haven’t received a decision yet so my financial aid is still in progress. Any help will be appreciated. @zettasyntax
Do you any of you guys know if you’re going to minor in something at USC?
Also, my last day of finals were today (SMC) and one of my professors is literally not posting grades til the 21st so I’m probably going to be one of the last ones submitting my SGR… :((
@journalism89 don’t feel bad lol I’ve submitted my spring grades early may and still haven’t heard back. we’ll all probably hear on the last day of june or early july I hope.
This wait is agonizing
GUYS! I need help! I just check my portal and a new Link came up under my application status. It’s “click here to submit mid year grades online”.
I clicked and it’s asking me to list all the classes and grades I got from high school? I’m guessing? I’m not sure!
I sent my offical HS transcripts and spring grades offically and everything. So I’m confused. I’m gonna call tmrw to ask what’s up.
Anyone has a familiar situation???
@zettasyntax ??
@USCimhereforu that’s happened to me twice since early May and it disappeared shortly after me noticing. In fact, it happened last weekend. I think it’s nothing more than a glitch in the system because it was rather late at night both times it appeared in my portal. I wouldn’t be too worried, especially if you’ve received confirmation from USC that they have all required documents. FYI - check the portal again, I bet you a dollar it’s no longer there.
@mr.transfer I don’t think you necessarily have to. I indicated that I wanted to live on-campus, but when they offered me that whole temporary housing jazz, I declined the offer. It’s always possible that they might/could ask for verification that you live on-campus at some point/in a future semester, but UCLA seemed way more threatening about that kind of stuff compared to USC. This is definitely a grey area.
@USCimhereforu I agree with LACCryan. As a non-HS student, there’s no reason you should be seeing that and it’s definitely a glitch. You can definitely always call to ask though
HOLY CRAP! I GOT IN…I GOT INTO USC LIKE THIS FEELS SO CRAY. Ugh I wanna go soooo bad.
Congrats!! @cmartin12 could you share your stats?
Yeah of course @megan343. International Relations application t. I’m a rising sophomore, did receive an SGR. 3.82 cumulative, (3.68 first semester, 4.0 second semester). 49 credits overall, 34 credits graded. I did have one W as well but it wasn’t a necessary class for my major at all.
@cmartin12 I felt your excitement all the way from the restaurant I’m at right now. So dope! I’d be going nuts! When did you submit your spring grades, what method, and how did you get notified of you acceptance?
Is anyone a junior transfer with a SGR? I’m a sophomore transfer but if this happens to me next year, there’s no way I’d be able to wait this long. Other colleges want you to commit by late May/early June.
@chjd22 If you make it this far next year and really want to go to USC, you’ll wait. Most of us have paid enrollment deposits at other schools as a safety net, but USC can change all of those ‘prior commitments’ in a blink of an eye.
Is it me or does anyone else feel a great deal of happiness when someone on this thread gets accepted? Haha we’ve all been put through this agonizing wait and it feels good to see it actually come to life. Way to go, fam.
@LACCryan Thank you so much man! And thank you so much @megan343 I sent in my Spring Grades on May 18th, they were received and processed last Tuesday and got my decision today on the portal!
@cmartin12 congrats!!!
@cmartin12 Congrats!!! How did you know if your transcripts were processed? I sent mine in last week and they appear on the portal, under received documents. Also, my SGR message in the application status section was replaced with the original message. Does this mean that my spring grades were processed? And if so, do you think I should be receiving a decision soon? Thanks!
@journalism89 Thank you! @uscfoc Thank you so much and yep! That’s exactly what happened to me and then a week later exactly I received my decision.
